There’s no sign of the oddly compressed-looking, basic, detail-light look the 43AU7100 could take on with mid-dark tones either. In fact, the UE43BU8000’s more consistent colour refinement means that pictures, especially during relatively dark scenes, often look more three-dimensional and refined. In picture terms, there’s really nothing not to like at the price, but it has to be said that the sound is decidedly average, even by the fairly low standards of modern flatscreen TVs. As with the vast majority of sets, we recommend that you also budget for at least a soundbar if you’re going to buy the LG C2. There are rival TVs, too, that can deliver both native 4K and upscaled HD images with more raw sharpness and apparent detail than the UE43AU7100. Again, though, the level of sharpness the UE43AU7100 adopts feels carefully chosen to deliver an organic, immersive image rather than an actual weakness of either the LCD panel or the Crystal Processor. The Samsung BU8500's ports are largely easy to access. (Image credit: Future) Samsung BU8500 review: Features

Colours in upscaled HD broadcasts have a natural appearance, far more subtle than more expensive TVs. Watching Countdown and the TU7020 gets the various blues of the set just right, the hues of darker and lighter blues well conveyed. It's important to note, though, that almost no native 8K content is available. If you buy an 8K TV and want to show off its ridiculously high resolution, you'll have to do so using nature, scenery and space footage from YouTube. At this stage, no streaming services have even hinted at launching 8K content, and it seems unlikely that an 8K disc format will ever materialise. Transform movie nights with this exceptional quality TV from Korean company Samsung, one of the world's leading tech providers. This TV comes prepared with 4K resolution capabilities, providing four times the full pixels of a standard Full-HD television. Whether watching an engaging animated movie or an educational documentary, the Ultra HD colour palatte the picture is brought to vivid and vibrant life. Sleeker and Slimmer than Ever Other connection options include two USB ports, a CI slot, Ethernet, digital optical out and RF inputs for terrestrial and satellite connections. Wirelessly, there’s Bluetooth 5.2 and Wi-Fi.

The 43AU7100 isn’t as accomplished with its audio as it is with its pictures. It still gets the job done, though, without breaking that sense of consistency that makes it so engaging. As has lately been Samsung’s wont, the AU7100 is supplied with a couple of remote control handsets with which to navigate the interface, pursue the set-up menus and what-have-you. One is (and there’s no two ways about it) an unpleasant, cheap-feeling, overburdened handset of confusion, while the is a much nicer, much more minimal ‘just the basics’ alternative. The UE43BU8000 doesn’t benefit from any Quantum Dot colour technology, but its screen does get what Samsung calls Crystal Colour; a combination of a relatively wide gamut LCD panel and potent colour processing that’s claimed to serve up a billion different colour shades. There are limits to the amount of ‘designing’ that can be done to a TV at the best of times, and ‘the best of times’ most certainly does not include a mainstream range of aggressively priced televisions designed to appeal to as many folk as possible. So the BU8500 is an unremarkable looker. On the plus side, the BU8500 does support 4K at 50Hz, along with HDR10, HDR10+ and HGiG. It also includes ALLM (automatic low latency mode), which detects a console and selects the Game mode, and as with most Samsung TVs, this produces an incredibly low input lag of 10ms.Percentage luminance drop at 35 degree horizontal angle from the centre of the screen with 100% white output All that goes a protracted approach to say that we had no thought what treats it may maintain once we began exploring the UE43BU8000. To test the Samsung BU8500 we used Portrait Displays Calman colour calibration software. Samsung BU8500 review: Sound quality The Samsung BU8500 is impressively slim, but this does limit what its speakers can do. (Image credit: Future) Samsung BU8500 review: Sound quality

The QN900B’s closest rival is the LG Z2 8K OLED, but that costs more than twice the price and is really no better a performer with 4K content than the company’s much more affordable G2 model. So, if it’s an 8K TV you want, either to make the most of the content you already watch or so that you’re ready for the 8K content that might one day appear, the QN900B is the TV to buy – at least until its replacement, the QN900C, turns up. The interface can be a little sluggish, but not enough to induce fits of rage. While the Samsung TU7020 is SmartThings compatible, that doesn’t extend to operation of the TV or for set-up purpose, despite the TV indicating it can be used for the latter. A few years ago, paying a moderate price for a well-spec'd 4K TV from a reputable brand was considered a good deal. However, with the current market offering 50-inch TVs for less and 55-inch TVs for even cheaper, the UE43BU8000 from Samsung no longer stands out as much as it used to. Despite this, you are still getting a Samsung TV with their well-known Crystal Colour technology and a smart system that supports a wide range of streaming services. The 43-inch BU8000 model, also known as UA43BU8000, is not available in the US, where Samsung is primarily focusing on their premium QLED, OLED and Mini LED lines.
