In addition, the Mini Cooper SE handles AC (level 2) charging at up to 7.4KW (11KW in the UK and Australia), which boosts the charge level by up to 20% per hour. Here in the US, the Mini Cooper SE comes with a 120V 16A level 1 charging adapter. Mini Cooper SE specs and tech I was super impressed with the flying capabilities of the DJI Mini 2 SE. Not only the drone has the same flying prowess as its more expensive sibling, the Mini 2, but it also has Level 5 wind resistance (up to 10.7 m/s or 38 km/h) and ±0.1 m vertical and ±0.3 m horizontal hovering accuracy (with vision positioning). This, combined with the superb gimbal performance, ensures that the DJI Mini 2 SE stays where you left it in the air.

CE: UK, Russia, France, Germany, Portugal, Spain, Switzerland, Macau, New Zealand, UAE, and other regions; Photos can be captured as single shots or in an interval mode (there are options between 2 and 60 seconds) which could be manually assembled later to create a timelapse – or might be a software solution to keep the pictures coming in case piloting becomes a distraction. THE ORIGINAL ICON.

That's not to say the Mini Cooper SE is always high strung. With two levels of regen (high for one-pedal driving, and low to coast and creep), plus four drive modes to choose from (Sport, Mid, Green, and Green+), it calms down when you want it to. The bottom line, it is a great starter drone with GPS. It is Stable, Goes where you want it, and is a great resource for photographers and videographers. Could probably do more but I don't want to test the distance and height limits. I had it up about 35 to 40 meters and it got these great sunset shots. BUY IT! The oblong instrument panel is attached to the steering column and moves up and down with the steering wheel. It looks fully digital at first glance, but actually combines a rectangular display with a semi-circular analog power gauge on the left and a semi-circular LED battery meter on the right. It’s not short of rivals either – among them the Fiat 500, Honda e, Peugeot e-208, Renault Zoe, Ora Funky Cat and Vauxhall Corsa Electric, to name but a few – so it’ll need to rely on more than just its looks to tempt buyers.

Minimal improvements like this come with improvements to motors or just the software driving them (both drones use identical propellors, too). It is worth noting, though, that in both cases the maximum flight time is measured at constant forward travel; hovering actually uses more power so drains the battery a little faster. Once again, there is essentially nothing to separate the drones here; they feature the same sized CMOS image sensors and the same features – well, except Panorama.Panorama is an automated option, in which you can simply hover the drone looking in the right direction and let it take a series of images in sequence, which it will also automatically stitch for you into a panorama. This feature – available on most DJI drones – was left off the Mini SE but it seems the Mini 2 SE can handle it. Keeping those phones charged regardless of the platform is a wireless charging pad in the center armrest and two USB-A ports. The DJI Mini SE is an impressive entry-level drone quadcopter that brings the renowned DJI quality and performance to a more budget-friendly price point. As an avid drone enthusiast, I was excited to test out this compact marvel, and it exceeded my expectations in many ways. Secondly, these DJI drones are known for their very excellent cameras. With this drone, you are not just getting a camera for which you can see what the drone sees (a necessity for flying) but rather an aerial photography device. The camera is so good you could absolutely think of this drone as a flying camera. Really, I would rate it about as good as a point-and-shoot or an iPhone 12. Another thing to note about the camera is that it is on a gimble, so your photos and videos will be crystal clear and right on point. The colour accuracy from the drone's camera is phenomenal. Walmart seemed really keen to sell the DJI Mini SE, but that won't be happening for some time (if ever).

Minis are naturally agile thanks to their low center of gravity, but the battery’s additional 300 pounds compared with the curb weight of a gas-powered Mini is a noticeable hindrance on handling. Mini's decision to place the battery up front in the engine compartment means the Mini SE doesn’t have a frunk. (Credit: Doug Newcomb) Price is a non-binding recommendation of the manufacturer (including VAT, excluding transportation costs). Prices shown may differ. Your MINI retailer will gladly give you more information on models available, options and binding price information. The Mini SE comes up way short on driver assist features. It includes adaptive cruise control, front and rear parking sensors, front-collision warning with pedestrian detection and automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, and a rearview camera. Its competitors have these and much more. Underwhelming camera performance aside, the Potensic Atom SE is a very decent beginner drone. It's not massively more affordable than the DJI Mini 2 SE but offers more flying modes and some extra features, potentially making it more appealing to those who prioritise the flying experience over camera footage. Read my full Potensic Atom SE review. I have been thinking about purchasing a drone for some time now after my friend got one. I was quite skeptical and I, as a person with purpose, needed this device to be useful. I could understand that it was quite fun, but I needed a use for it to justify the 400 dollar price tag (with tax). After looking at a bunch of different drones in the 100-250 dollar price range, I realized that they were pretty much just for fun and hobbies use.

Limited Range and WiFi Connectivity: The DJI Mini SE utilizes a WiFi connection for communication between the drone and the remote controller, which can result in a more limited range compared to other DJI drones that use more advanced radio frequency technologies. The WiFi connection is susceptible to interference, especially in urban areas or areas with a high density of wireless signals, which may lead to potential signal drops or video transmission issues. Our current advice for beginners, then, is that the DJI Mini 2 is the best drone you can buy and is unlikely, according to the latest rumors, to be succeeded imminently. But for sheer value, the DJI Mini SE is certainly an interesting new option that's worth considering if you don't mind its slightly dated video skills and flying experience. Here is where we see the biggest difference between the two models. The New Mini 2 SE comes with DJI’s new style of controllers, the RC-N1, supporting the tech DJI call OccuSync 2, the principal advantage of which is longer transmission range. This controller is now offered across DJI’s entire consumer range. Compared to the top-of-the-line drones, the Mini SE (and the Mini 2 SE) don’t do a lot, but it does what it sets out to well. Pictures and video from the air and for many that will be enough, and are very shareable; indeed they look good for any scenario short of professional editing. There's more customisable lighting at the rear, with the tail lights able to be customised, showing the familiar Union Flag signature, or a choice of other modes. They're joined by a strip on the tailgate, with all lighting featuring a welcome and a goodbye animation. However, the Mini asks you to understand a few home truths. BMW could have given it more range and will do down the line. But, that will likely make it heavier and more expensive, with longer charging times and less cabin space. For this first proper production attempt it studied a lot of Mini owner data, sussed out the average Cooper S travels 26 miles a day, and moulded the Mini Electric’s performance to suit that brief, needing only a couple of recharges to slip into the average Mini audience’s life unnoticed. What I discovered is that, if you are to buy a drone and are on a tight budget, either don't buy one or buy this one. After using it a few times I can completely recommend this drone from a skeptical point of view. We already looked at the gimbal, and this is a good point to reiterate that resolution is only one measure of the quality of drone video. Video is stable and 2.7K is plenty sharp for most uses. Unlike the Mini 3, however, the camera remains horizontal, so lower resolution is exposed if cropping for vertical format. Similarly the digital zoom is more of a novelty and even at 2x will expose the limitations of a 12 megapixel sensor. The DJI Mini SE was never going to offer all the goodies of the DJI Mini 2 for a lower price, and that's certainly proven to be the case. The DJI Mini SE is certainly worth considering if you're looking for an affordable beginner drone, though it's a shame that there don't appear to be any more 'Fly More' bundles with extra batteries for even better value.
