Since I was going to be using my new Mac Allister reciprocating saw to be cutting up an entire shed which meant going through felt, hidden nails and anything else that stood in my way, I opted for the Bosch S1531L reciprocating saw blades meant for cutting wood and came in lengths of 240mm.

I presume that Scorpion type saw with its deeper blades are more accurate than reciprocating saw (who blades seem to wave about a lot more). It was well put together with nothing put where it shouldn’t be, no rattles or strange noises and really looks the part if you needed to use it for your business. Looking at the selection available, is it important to have one where the blade can cut at all 4 directions, like the De Walt? I want a cordless one so have looked at the DeWalt 18v range as I have the batteries and all the reviews seem positive albeit vibration gets a negative mark. When fitted with the correct blades, they are capable of cutting metals, wood and thicker materials such as tree branches, leaving a more accurate cut than a chainsaw.I can use the saw upside down presumably if its easier to cut upwards, but the arch over the pathway has several awkward angles and I would like to be able to cut ON the join line to replace easier where just a few sections need renewing. Quality, reliability and durability: Ok so the first thing to bear in mind when you are reading reviews and ratings online, is that quality is subjective, one person may feel that it delivers above and beyond whilst others may have been unfortunate and got a bad batch of products which did not deliver the quality they were expecting. I bought the Titan saw from Screwfix for my father as he was determined to break my fancy Milwaukee Sawzall cutting firewood. Model DJR186 is a cordless reciprocating saw powered by 18V Li-ion battery and has been developed for higher cutting efficiency and more durability. we tend to go for an inexpensive brand with a good reputation but opt for the better blades and chains.

I’m embarrassed to say that I don’t actually own a reciprocating saw for my gardening and landscaping business since I’ve never actually needed one, but when the time came that one was needed for my home I decided to opt for the Mac Allister MSRS850 850W electric reciprocating saw 220-240v. Looking at the DeWatt saw that you showed, it looks great, but I think I have got used to the 'long thin' dimensions, rather than the gun shape.

Hi, can anyone recommend a good quality reciprocating saw that can cut a variety of materials wood, plastics etc? from Screwfix whilst still carrying a reliable brand, at least from experience and other reviews I have written anyway. Out of a pack of 5, I had 2 left when finished which I feel was pretty good going considering how much I had to cut! The item may be missing the original packaging or protective wrapping, or may be in the original packaging but not sealed. Well I used the Mac Allister reciprocating saw for around 3 hours with no breaks so it’s fair to say that I put it through its paces, although with a 2 year trade rated guarantee from Screwfix I wouldn’t have expected any less.

But being a Sunday I was by myself and having a quick look around there were no obvious fixing points for the roof which is what I would usually remove first (start high and work yourself down). It’s also worth noting that the Mac Allister reciprocating saw comes with 2 blades, 1 metal cutting blade and 1 wood cutting blade.

In addition, the MAC Allister Reciprocating Saw 900W MERS900 has a tool-free blade change system, so you can quickly and easily change blades without the need for any tools. The MAC Allister Reciprocating Saw 900W MERS900 is a powerful and versatile saw that is perfect for a variety of tasks, including cutting wood, metal, and plastic. Being a Sunday I had to think of the quietest way of taking the shed down as to not disturb my new neighbours and unscrewing the shed already being out of the question due to rounded off screw heads, being unsafe etc. You can change your choices at any time by visiting Cookie preferences, as described in the Cookie notice. Also, will one be able to cut wrought iron, not particularly thick stuff just an old rusty gate I have lying around.

It has a couple of nifty features but the one I like the most is the telescopic shoe which allows you to use more of the blade. The saw also has a variable speed control, so you can adjust the speed to match the material you are cutting.

I wasn’t too fussed on the specifications when purchasing my new reciprocating saw as it was only for a one-off job so all I really looked for was that it had variable speed and that the blades were easy to replace since I was sure I’d be going through a few. I bought it as a cheap throw away item, but (for me at least) it has lasted 3 years of relatively hard work. All refurbished items have been professionally and fully inspected, repaired and cleaned before resale.
