A charming story focused on family and romance with characters that are complex and just a little bit quirky. If I could settle down somewhere in the countryside (preferably on the coast) and spend much of my time reading, writing, cooking, taking walks and tending to house, home and animals, I think I would be perfectly happy.

All of her characters, most notably Peter Rabbit, have become staples of British childhood and iconic figures worldwide. Star D’Aplièse is at a crossroads in her life after the sudden death of her beloved father – the elusive billionaire, named Pa Salt by his six daughters, all adopted by him from the four corners of the world. I think he is looking for the seventh sister who might be in danger, and I think he is the Greek tycoon! Perhaps this was largely to do with liking the modern day characters more, especially Star but also Orlando, Mouse and Rory who is a sweetie.So, OK, Archie had made arrangements with Flora and Aurelia’s dad that he would marry Aurelia, and the MacNichol family estate would be sold to help with the upkeep of High Weald, Archie’s home. Of course it doesn’t pay very well but it is pretty much a dream job for Star who is as passionate about books and literature as Orlando is. As Star learns more of Flora’s incredible journey, she too goes on a voyage of discovery, finally stepping out of the shadow of her sister and opening herself up to the possibility of love.

Sadly this countryside idyll can not last, and financial circumstances force Flora to move to London, ostensibly to work as a governess for an acquaintance of her mother. Star, in the past, we haven't heard much from considering that her sister CeeCee is always speaking for her. Flora is torn between passionate love and her duty to her family, but finds herself a pawn in a larger game. Nu am rezonat foarte mult cu personajele și nu am simțit aceeași fiori la în celelalte volume dar voi continua seria. Teilweise war es mir aber doch ein bisschen zuu kitschig und Realitätsfern und mit Star, die sich immer nur aufopfert, bin ich auch nicht warm geworden.What is especially interesting to me is how people will perceive her differently once they have more insight into her thoughts and emotions. Die Atmosphäre war absolut zum wohlfühlen und auch CeCe wurde mir im Laufe des Buches sympathischer, sodass ich mich nun auch auf den nächsten Band freuen kann. One of these, Lady Susan Vane-Tempest, is alleged to have given birth to his illegitimate child in 1871. I am as fascinated now as I was at the beginning of book one and even more hungry than ever for the rest of this amazing tale!
