Edit: not spraying under the shirt anymore because it consistently gives me a headache when I do so. I mean look at the list of notes in the pyramid, it should transition from the opening, mid, and then drydown, maybe it’s the oak moss that is so strong in this I just can’t pick up anything else it’s trying to do. I like Lalique's Equus as well and the two fragrances appeal to the country side of me in slightly different ways. That being said, with Aramis Devin I can definitely detect very distinct phases in the cologne as it evolves on my skin. I smell a lot of fatty, clean aldehydes at first mixed in with a strong catholic church incense smell, literally smells like a priest's robe to me. But performance wise, they're both EDC-s, so they last quite a while on clothes and leave a nice scent bubble, but don't project much, which is also fine.

It blends it's animalistic note with the body odor and make the whole sillage thing mysterious and exotic. When the heart notes begin to appear, there's an aromatic lavender scent, pure lavender which wafts into the air early in the performance of Devin. A particular point, Devin filters out the rich and expansive aspect of galbanum while keeping the sweetness, which, without the compensatory resinousness, appears saccharine sweet, like a shrill whisper.
