Description

I loved the references I could get and that they weren't explained (yeah, I'm a real sucker for being treated as an intelligent reader instead of as one with very limited mental capacity). But whilst these and his many other endeavours might not be everyone’s idea of ‘adventures’, Rob’s intrepidness lies in his reaching out to others in new social situations, in overcoming his harmful inclination to ‘retract into myself’. This book made me realise that Rob Temple is more aware of the line between national temperament and personal psychology than I had ever realised, and that it is no coincidence that the sentiments he captures walk that fine line. I overthink and have trouble sleepin’ / All purpose gone and don’t have a reason / And there’s no doctor to stop this bleedin’ / So I left home and jumped in the deep end,” Ed Sheeran sings in verse one.

I downloaded the audiobook version of this book purely because Mat Baynton was narrating it, but upon listening, I discovered a new favourite book.Tiff and Tuff run out to tend to an injured Kirby and are thoroughly angry with the gang's recklessness.

Born to be Mild: Adventures for the Anxious Kindle Edition

Mathew Baynton was superb narrating this audiobook with the perfect emotions and inflections as he was telling the author’s story. The camera cuts to the inside of King Dedede's room where the room's resident and his assistant, Escargoon, are watching a show (or movie) about motorcycles. This track is about the being weighed down by emotional stress despite valiant attempts to find some positivity in the situation. The three of them stop at the door and Rip questions if they were looking for Dedede, only for Fang to say that the person they're looking for is a biker before driving off once more. I really wanted to like this book, but sadly it read like a garbled stream of consciousness that was in need of a good edit. And I had no need to go outside: I'd somehow wangled it so my job was mostly tweeting, which meant no colleagues, no bosses, no office, no alarm clock, no deadlines .
