Comparing Sonic and Mario games is pointless. Firstly, Sonic levels are more complex, bigger and have lots of paths. That's why there are only two or three levels (acts) per world (zone). They are infinitely replayable. It's completely unfair comparing Sonic and Mario levels 1:1. I'm still super hyped for this game, just like I and many people were with the original version of this post early this morning when the news was breaking. I myself made 5 detailed comments, responding to others, who responded to me. It was a fun and exciting time for fans sharing the experience in real time.

Remake/Remaster at one point tried to mean something different, but it just became a blurry mess. It's easier and more accurate to say that Resident Evil 4 was an enhanced port. a b Bukacek, Jacob (June 21, 2022). "Review: Sonic Origins". Hardcore Gamer. I was only kidding that Sega would hire me but at the very least I hope they see and like the games I make, and it helps them see how much people love these old titles. Theres a small possibility Sega Europe may distribute one of my original titles. They are one of a handful of companies that at least asked to be sent prototypes of it when its ready. That would blow my mind lol. I already can't believe I'm making games that run on Nintendo hardware!I just think its interesting that there was once a world where Sega and Sonic were big enough for all that to exist, several times over in multiple countries. I'll never not be sad that despite there being 5 locatoins in the UK, and me being at my peak Sega/Sonic fandom at the time they existed, I never got to visit any of them because we didn't have much money and my dad (sensibly) put a 100 mile round trip limit on places we could visit. I remember seeing videos of the Sega version of the Trocadero in London (7 floor indoor arcade venue!) and hearing of friends going to the Bournemouth Sega World, and just thinking it was the coolest things ever. RetroGames (continued) Even if this doesn't matter to you, because you think total sales indicate popularity over time regardless, think about how many times Sonic 1 & 2 have been re-released on compilations, ports to every console & handheld, mobile versions, legally sold roms on steam, the multitude of licensed plug and play and portable consoles by Blaze, AtGames, TecToy... if those all count as game sales, you can at least double the figures that those 2 games have sold, probably more. By comparison, Nintendo have re-released their Mario games less often, and only on Nintendo platforms, rather than every device known to man - Sonic 1 & 2 even being legally included on silly things like digital cameras and mp3 players. It arguably massively cheapened the value of Sonic 1 & 2, but if these all count as legit sales, they are surely 2 of the most highly sold games of all time. The only Mario game that could compete is Super Mario Bros 1 - IF you include the amount of bootleg copies sold on illegal famiclones... which you shouldn't. I also liked Sonic Rush and Sonic Rush Adventure on Nintendo DS. When I played them on Nintendo DS Lite that had much better lighting than the original it was like, Oh Dad, look at this! So yes, I'd 100% recomend Frontiers... however if you haven't played it already, it may be worth waiting untill all the free updates are released because they will be vastly improving lots of the jank & making some fundemental changes to the controls, movement, camera, etc, not just adding more content. Also, if possible, play it somewhere not on Switch, its got by far the worst performance... but its still "fine" if its your only option. The "Killer Apps" were fantastic, but still not worth the price of admission for most, when the Saturn was on the horizon so it was obvious they'd have a short shelf life, like the 3dO and Jaguar - again, both of which have a handful of incredible titles well worth owning... just not enough to justify the console cost at the time.

From what I've seen it does appear that this only became an issue after MJ passed away and Sony started playing hot potato with extending, passing around and then buying various rights from 2010-2018. I'd bet that its more likely whoever owns the portion of his estate that thinks it owns the compositions that would cause any holdups due to holding things to ransom for a higher than reasonable fee... or possibly infighting and confusion as to exactly who does own what and who did what - much of it is presumably word of mouth, annoyingly. Apart from some news for Sonic Frontiers and the upcoming Sonic Superstars this week, Sega has also rolled out a brand new patch for its retro compilation Sonic Origins Plus. Sonic Origins has some puzzling issues and omissions that you wouldn't expect in a retro compilation of this caliber. There's no save-state/reload functionality, nor are there any screen filters that can help smooth the pixels into a nice CRT-like look. There is one "anti-aliasing" screen option that makes the screen look like it's been smeared with petroleum jelly, but that's it. I think the reason the Universal Nintendo areas were made possible by the fact that Mario has been such a consistently well known and loved franchise/character for nearly 40 years, so kids, teens, parents, even gran parents have a fondness for the brand. Its like Disney, its just a universal of most people's childhoods. Of course, Sonic has been around for much of that time too, and always been popular with kids because of the constant release of new tv shows, but the games having mixed quality means that a lot of the kids grow up to become parents and while their kids are liking sonic, some parents are less enthusiastic because they fell out with Sonic at somepoint as a teen or an adult playing a game they didn't like. a b Lane, Gavin (June 21, 2022). "Feature: Takashi Iizuka, Head Of Sonic Team, Speaks About Sonic Origins, Sprites, And Future Plans". Nintendo Life. Archived from the original on July 1, 2022 . Retrieved June 21, 2022. I know this isn’t just a me issue, but I don’t know what the majority of people think, so good for you if you’re truly that good.

UsurperKing (cont) Most Nintendo fans, especially those who grew up with the Gamecube, will recomend Sonic Adventure 1 & 2. They are good games with lots to recomend, but they haven't aged well as far as the camera, occasionally broken collision detection, & patchy quality of different areas & playstyles if you don't have nostalgia for them. Sonic Heroes is less well remembered but actually a far more polished game, also available on Gamecube or Xbox... theres a PS2 version as well but its the worst of the 3. a b c Kemps, Heidi (June 21, 2022). "Sonic Origins – Going Fast, Again". GameSpot. Archived from the original on June 21, 2022 . Retrieved June 21, 2022. RetroGames While alot of what you said there is objectively correct, you're slightly misunderstanding or misinterpreting history and actively wrong in a couple of places. Since you have mentioned "truth" and "facts", lets be unbiased & objective for a second: (and I'm going to wrap up by agreeing with you again at the end, so go with me on this, ok? 😇) I guess you could use a video to know where upcoming rings and bombs are, but that involves pausing the game and interrupting gameplay and control, and feels a bit like cheating. Save states can be used to restart special stages after losing, but you get more practice, increase you’re skills and remember more each time, plus you don’t forget the layout while avoiding enemy’s between posts. BTB20 @Bigmanfan Super Mario Bros 3 and Super Mario World are my 2 favourite 2d Mario games. I agree Sonic 1 isn't as good, but I think Sonic 2 and Sonic 3&K compete very well. Infact, on balance, perhaps those 2 Sonic games are stronger than the Mario ones? All 4 games are in my top 25 favourite games though, so its subjective.Amy is great fun to play as, the Game Gear feels like a cheap addition. For the price of the add on, was OK, but overall it feels like little care and attention went into expanding the 8-bit aspect of this collection. One of the games I'm making for switch is a Metroidvania, starring Hazel Witch, the little girl with purple hair in my avatar! So I hope you will at least like that, even if its not your favourite genre... we've worked very hard to make sure people don't get lost - theres great interactive maps and she has a cute little bat that follows her around, and you can always talk to him for clues or get him to fly to where secrets are or show where you should be heading Ristar24 Yes over the years I've given up trying to make sense of what Sega do. they often ignore options that would literally print money, and then make crazy left turns that make no sense. Even things that should be home runs are hit with weird decisions that leave them hamstrung... Origins is one of those products. The recent Monkey Ball game was another that should have been an easy win and they fumbled at the last step. But as a long suffering fan that still loves the core product despite it all, I'm happy with what I get when they deem to give it to me. I remember the NES was on display in shops like Dixons and Children’s World, so I was familiar with the classics (and wanted them to replace my Speccy) but once the Mega Drive launched that was all I wanted. I did play on a SNES a couple of times but it never impressed me enough to want one over the MD (it still feels sluggish to this day but that’s probably 50hz games). With hindsight and having played the SNES since, it’s a great system but it just never seemed as popular in my part of the UK, though I believe it actually eventually outsold the Mega Drive. That didn’t seem the case when I was young though. a b c Parrish, Ash (April 20, 2022). "Sonic Origins launches in June with remasters of four classic games". The Verge.
