Esha Ani Mohana Vi – Grand Master, the Great Mother of the Imperial Hunters, Princeps of Luxor Invictoria The Emperor saw regret in His fallen son's eyes. The Emperor also knew that the Ruinous Powers could attempt to possess Horus again, and that He would not be there to stop him if they did. Driving all of the near-infinite reserves of compassion from His mind for the sake of the humanity He had served and loved all the years of His long life, the Emperor summoned his power once more and destroyed Horus utterly, his essence burned from existence so that the Ruinous Powers could not resurrect him as a Daemon Prince through their claim on his soul. We have seen an almighty void war ravage the heavens as Horus Lupercal’s fleet punched through Rogal Dorn’s defences in The Solar War . Battle lines met on Terra, and traitor Primarchs unleashed their unnatural powers in The Lost and the Damned . Perturabo commanded a battle of bloody attrition in The First Wall , making it his mission to undo the Praetorian of Terra’s impregnable defences.

Echoes of Eternity (Volume 7) [Hardcover] Dembski-Bowden

It’s heroic on a Warhammer scale, but also truly sad. It’s cosmic in scope, but also intensely personal. After 18 months of writing, with the amazing support of the editorial team and my fellow Heresy writers, it is – I hope – a fitting end to the series. It’s certainly the best ending I could deliver. Just moments after the battle of the Eternity Gate, Shiban Khan and his White Scars managed to reactivate the anti-orbital defenses of the Lion's Gate Spaceport. The traitor armada, hanging in low-orbit, was subjected to a vicious ground-to-orbit bombardment. Word reached the Sol System that Roboute Guilliman was just one week away, with Leman Russ, Corax, and Lion El'Jonson not far behind. [22f] Although many of the Traitor landing craft were destroyed in-atmosphere, many more made it to the surface, disgorging yet more soldiers, main battle tanks and Traitor Titans to add to the besiegers' strength. They met stiff resistance from the Loyalists as the Imperial defenders knew that the survival of the Imperium Throneworld, their Emperor, and the entirety of humanity rested on their shoulders.

Fury of Magnus is the second novella in The Siege of Terra series and is written by Graham McNeill. Of all the Emperor's sons who fell to Chaos, it is perhaps Magnus the Red whose tale is the most tragic. Sanctioned because of his desire for knowledge, chastised, judged, and shattered to his very elements -- there is much for the Crimson King to feel vengeful for. Yet revenge is not the only thing that draws him to Terra alongside the Warmaster Horus' besieging armies. He seeks something, a fragment, the missing piece of himself that lies within the most impregnable place on the planet -- the inner sanctum of the Imperial Palace. As the greatest conflict of the ages reaches fever pitch, Magnus fights his own inner battle. To be whole once more, he must not only overcome the fiercest of defences, but also face the one being whom he loves and hates with equal fervour more than any other -- his errant father, the Emperor of Mankind. Dan Abnett is the author behind this incredible final story . It contains some of the most crucial moments in the Horus Heresy – foundational to Warhammer 40,000 as we know it. This is simply unmissable. Upon discovering the shields of the Vengeful Spirit down, Malcador the Sigillite alerted the Emperor, still struggling to keep the Golden Throne and its adjoining Webway Gate stable. Upon learning of the news, the Emperor knew it was time to act and end Horus, even though he was certain it was a trap. Rogal Dorn, Sanguinius, Vulkan, and Valdor were all called to his side for the coming battle, and all objected to the Emperor's plan to personally teleport aboard the Vengeful Spirit. [24f] However the Emperor overruled his sons, commanding Valdor and Dorn to come with him while Sanguinius took control of loyalist forces on Terra and Vulkan stay behind to oversee the potential failsafe on the Golden Throne. [24g] Sanguinius flatly objected to his fathers request to stay behind, telling the Emperor of his prophetic death at Horus' hands and his intention to defy fate by defeating his traitorous brother instead. This was enough to move the Emperor to change his mind. Four company's were organized for the assault: the Hetaeron Guard led by the Emperor, another Custodes company under Valdor, a mixed force of Sanguinary Guard and Blood Angels 1st Company under Sanguinius and Raldoron, and Huscarls under Dorn and Diamantis. The operation was codenamed Anabasis. [24h] Malcador took his place upon the Golden Throne in the Emperor's place, an act that would cost him his life. For that, The Emperor renamed Malcador the Sigillite to Malcador the Hero. [24i]

Aaron Dembski-Bowden has delivered a novel that does for the Blood Angels what the Night Lord’s Trilogy did for the Night Lords. Many would have surrendered to Angron after seeing the sheer power of the forces of Chaos that stood arrayed before them had it not been for the Primarch Sanguinius, the winged and seemingly angelic leader of the Blood Angels Legion. The two Primarchs, once brothers, gazed at each other, perhaps communicating telepathically. Eventually Angron withdrew from before the gates of the Imperial Palace, telling his forces, not without some relish at the prospect of slaughter, that there would be no surrender. What happened next is disputed in the Imperial historiography of the Horus Heresy; some believe Horus disabled his void shields as he experienced one last moment of regret for his betrayal of his father and his turn to Chaos, while others believe it was a personal challenge to the Emperor. All of this – every tale, no matter how small – has led to this finale: Siege of Terra: The End and the Death: Volume 1. Yes, Volume 1. You’ll just have to wait and see what this means for the final story! Yet the Master of Mankind was mortally wounded in battle with His fallen gene-son and had to be interred within the cybernetic life support mechanisms of the advanced psychic augmentation technology known as the Golden Throne. Mankind would never again benefit from His direct guidance and leadership.

The First Wall is the third novel in The Siege of Terra series and is written by Gav Thorpe. The war for the fate of Mankind blazes on. Though the outer defences have fallen, the walls of the Imperial Palace itself remain inviolate as Rogal Dorn, the Praetorian of Terra himself, uses every known stratagem and ploy to keep Horus' vast armies at bay. In Perturabo, the Traitor siegebreaker, Dorn faces an adversary worthy of his skill. A terrible, grinding attrition ensues. Unable to complete the Webway project that the Golden Throne had originally been intended to create and maintain, the Emperor now chose to use its psychic augmentation mechanisms both to maintain his shattered body's life support functions and to project his mind into the Immaterium where He would create and maintain the Astronomican navigation beacon to hold the Imperium together and battle the Chaos Gods on their own plane, always seeking to protect Mankind from their corruption and depredations. A closer view of the Lion's Gate Spaceport within the Imperial Palace complex at the time of the Siege of Terra. Dan: For me, the highlights have been the process itself. The privilege of being part of such a long-term commitment, forming such a close creative bond with the whole Heresy team, and building out the huge scope of the universe. Writers don’t often get the chance to work together for such a long time on such a big, long-form endeavour. There have been so many great moments, so many great novels, and everyone – both the characters and the authors – have had their moment to shine. The Emperor suffered grievous wounds at Horus' hands, and after a score of thrusts, parries and counter-thrusts between the Emperor's Runesword and his own Lightning Claw, Horus sliced open the Emperor's chest armour, then sliced his jugular and severed the tendons in his right wrist, disarming the Emperor. The difference between it and the others (save Saturnine and Warhawk) is night and day. It’s like comparing an Imperial guardsman with a primarch. With the release of Siege of Terra: Echoes of Eternity this weekend, the Warmaster’s forces push forward on Terra, and the epic conflict takes one step closer to its ultimate end. The final moments are now at hand. Snarling, Horus hurled bolts of daemonic lightning at the Emperor, but the Emperor nullified them with his own immense psychic abilities. The die was cast. Each god-like being knew that the fate of humanity now hung in the balance.

The casual brutality of the Warmaster's act galvanised the Emperor as He realised what awaited Mankind under the rule of Horus and the Chaos Gods. Realising at last that His favoured son was truly lost to the corruption of Chaos, the Emperor finally gathered His full and awesome psychic power in the Immaterium and unleashed a lance of pure Warp energy that pierced the gloating Horus' psychic defenses and ripped his body apart. These forces were bolstered by elements of the Night Lords and 5,000 Word Bearers commanded by Zardu Layak, as the majority of the Word Bearers Legion remained under the command of the Primarch Lorgar, who had betrayed the Warmaster. The Alpha Legion had retreated from the Sol System warzone after delivering a in-depth map of the Sol System's defences to Horus. But the Emperor, tens of millennia older than His misguided and once beloved son, knew well the trap that had snared Horus. The Emperor told the corrupted Primarch that he was the deluded slave of Chaos, not its master, for no mortal could ever truly claim to be more than simply a pawn of the Ruinous Powers.
