Miles DAVIS - Kind Of Blue Vinyl at Juno Records.

MiniDisc, Columbia CM 40579 (US) from a master prior to 1997, but not the Jazz Masterpiece remaster. It was unavailable by the end of the 1990s when production of Jazz Masterpiece series had ceased. It was not issued at the correct speed. [82] Late in his life, from the electric period on, Davis repeatedly disregarded his earlier work, such as the music of Birth of the Cool or Kind of Blue. In Davis's view, remaining static stylistically was the wrong option. [74] Kind of Blue was produced by Columbia staff producer Irving Townsend. [11] : 195 However, over the years there has been confusion, with Davis's subsequent producer Teo Macero getting partial or full credit. "In the case of Kind of Blue there were two producers: Teo Macero and Irving Townsend", said jazz historian Eric Nisenson. "Macero's role, however, was clearly that of an apprentice and observer." The recording session was also cited by Nisenson as Macero's first experience with "the highs and lows of working with Miles." From Macero's own recollection, his involvement in the recording included "box[ing] everyone in so that there would be a physical closeness among the musicians, not like today when the musicians are spread all over the place." [12] According to High Fidelity, "though his role in Kind of Blue has been disputed", the recording was "made under the auspices" of Macero. [13] However, it is Townsend's voice heard on the session tapes, who became Davis's producer after the departures of George Avakian and Cal Lampley. Macero did not produce Davis until after Townsend took over West Coast production duties for Columbia Records, when Macero took his place. [11] : 90 Macero's first Davis production was his next record, Sketches of Spain. [11] : 166 Andy Mabbett (1995). The Complete Guide to the Music of Pink Floyd. Reality is, I'm sure, all over the map, with different opinions from different producers and plating engineers, and different equipment creating different results. Well, I think that everything has already been said and talked about the audio quality, however, I want to commend QUALITY's initiative, for leaving the record on the outside of the beautiful cover, thus maintaining the integrity of the cover during long periods of travel, congratulations to the thinkers !!! "Jimmy Cobb, consummate jazz drummer for Miles Davis, dies at 91". The Washington Post . Retrieved April 17, 2022.Really happy with this UHQR (number 7700) and surprised it is clearly better than both my Classic 33 and 45! Just sounds beautiful and alive! Well done Chad and Co.! But seriously, folks..this pressing is the absolute gold standard (that I've heard) KoB release. Buy it. From the lead-in groove to the run-out groove, there is no pitch to the profile, allowing the customer’s stylus to play truly perpendicular to the grooves from edge to center. Would become an issue eventually. Wear on the mothers or stampers will depend on how many copies are made from them. I don't know how many copies Classic pressed of the 33 KoB across 15 years and all of their vinyl formulations, but I'd believe it if you said the AP 25,000 exceeds it.

The engineering parameter that's murkier is the friction between the stylus and record. That's what's yanking on the effective moment arm to torque the tonearm toward the middle. During So What and All Blues, I heard the breathy saxes sound nicer than I have before. Generally, the tone of those saxes is anathema to me, but here it seems that they have changed timbre just slightly, and now I don't mind them. Also in All Blues, you can hear the details on everything the drummer does.I have a 60's stereo press, MOV's mono press, the 45th anniversary box, MoFi's 45 RPM. This absolutely destroys them all. DESTROYS THEM. The sound of Coltrane’s sax, during Flamenco Sketches, on the new UHQR is absolutely the best sound in our universe. Philips Compact Cassette versions of the original album prior to the Jazz Masterpiece remaster, and of the 1987 Jazz Masterpiece remaster. Neither are at the correct speed. [82] Bill Evans wrote in the LP liner notes, "Miles conceived these settings only hours before the recording dates." [8] Evans continued with an introduction concerning the modes used in each composition on the album. " So What" consists of two modes: sixteen measures of the first, followed by eight measures of the second, and then eight again of the first. [8] " Freddie Freeloader" is a standard twelve-bar blues form. " Blue in Green" consists of a ten-measure cycle following a short four-measure introduction.
