Description

As soon as I finished reading Fulgrim, I pulled my copy of Ferrus Manus: Gorgon of Medusa from the shelf. I had zero interest in reading about Ferrus before, but now I needed to know more about him. Sire of the Word Bearers– Lorgar has the Crusader special rule and confers this to any unit he joins , while he is on the table ( not in a transport ) all models with the legiones astartes (Word Bearers) special rule may use his leadership for all morale and pinning tests. Sometime in mid-to-late M41, the hammer would find its way into the armory of the Blood Ravens Astartes chapter. [3]. However, by 999.M41, it had been reclaimed and once again wielded by Perturabo. [5] See also When the Emperor was mortally wounded in the Siege of Terra, this created a psychic apparition of Manus which briefly appeared before the Iron Hands on Medusa. According to the Iron Council's logs, their Primarch warned them that a calamity would come to befall Mankind. When it occurred, though, Manus promised he would return to lead the Iron Hands against it and the apparition then disappeared. [22]

Therefore, suits of Terminator armour are even more rare than normally is the case. Due to this the deployment of full Terminator Squads is also rare. However, sergeants are often equipped with suits of Terminator armour as the inspirational value they provide to their squads is invaluable. [10] Recruitment After the events of Istvaan V played out to their bloody, inevitable conclusion, the Astartes of the III rd Legion had no idea that their beloved leader was clawing ineffectually at the bondage of his own mind where he now found himself a prisoner. Only Lucius, Captain of the 13th Company, had appeared to realise that something was amiss with Fulgrim, but even he had said nothing. The Daemon-Fulgrim sensed the burgeoning Warp touch upon the swordsman and had presented him with the silver daemonblade within which the Laer had originally bound a fragment of the daemon's essence, as he now wielded the far more potent Kinebrach Anathame, a gift from Horus. Though the Blade of the Laer was now bereft of its animating daemonic spirit, there was still power within the Chaos blade, power that would strengthen Lucius in the years of death to come. As the Kristosian Conclave reached its zenith in 460.M41, the Sapphire King judged the Iron Hands ripe to fall and set its trap in motion. Each Iron Hand carried within his heart a rancid seed, a bomb of repressed passions that could erupt to destroy him at any moment. The Daemon would simply provide the spark to light the flame and watch the Chapter burn upon a pyre of their own emotions. In that same year, a vast host of Iron Hands descended upon the Gaudinia System. Iron Father Kristos had assumed the mantle of war leader and had assembled more than eight hundred Iron Hands under his control. This was the greatest deployment of the Chapter for centuries, and was accompanied by the majority of the Iron Council. Clan Company Raukaan once again took the lead in a massive planetary assault upon Gaudania Prime and so was at the heart of the abominable trap that was there unleashed. The second wave of "Loyalist" Space Marine Legions descended upon the landing zone on the northern edge of the Urgall Depression. Hundreds of Stormbirds and Thunderhawks roared towards the surface, their armoured hulls gleaming as the power of another four Astartes Legions arrived on Isstvan V. Yet the Space Marine Legions of the reserve were no longer loyal to the Emperor, having already secretly sworn themselves to Chaos and the cause of Horus. The Night Lords of Konrad Curze, the Iron Warriors of Perturabo, the Word Bearers of Lorgar, and the Alpha Legion of Alpharius represented a force larger than that which had first begun the assault on Isstvan V. The secret Traitor Legions mustered in the landing zone, armed and ready for battle, unbloodied and fresh. I’ve heard Ferrus called many things, including “boring,”“the primarch no one cares about,” and “the primarch only known for dying first.” None of it paints an interesting picture of him, but Fulgrim turned around my thinking. How fascinating is it that the most pompous and prissy primarch can be best friends with someone known as boring? Sure, you can argue that Fulgrim could never be besties with someone as glamorous as he is. Otherwise, Sanguinius or Lion El’Jonson would certainly be his BFF. However, the end of Fulgrim showed me something completely different about him.

With the creation of the Great Rift, however, many in the Iron Hands believe the time of their Primarch's promised return to his sons has come. The wardens of Gorgon's Forge are now working harder than ever, to unravel its secrets in preparation of Manus' arrival and all but the coldest of the Iron Hands, yearn for that day to arrive. [22] The Draor Obelisk To celebrate this momentous occasion, we sat down with the Forge World team to discuss the Primarchs project. Designer Sam Egan was kind enough to talk us through each of the models in turn, and he had oodles of insights into the design process behind this amazing series of miniatures, which started a decade ago with the Red Angel himself. Angron, Primarch of the World Eaters M41: Defence of Fabris Callivant — The Iron Hands defended the homeworld of their allies, House Callivant, from Ork forces. [37b] [37c] Sam: “ Guilliman was a pleasure to sculpt, as he’s very much the quintessential Space Marine. It was important to me to keep the silhouette very clean, which can be difficult when figures are armed with giant power fists. That’s why we went with a pose where he’s drawn the Gladius Incandor with his right hand, and the Hand of Dominion is holding the scabbard by his side, retaining the overall Space Marine form. His Armour of Reason is very ornate, with lots of intricate detailing – a mix of Ultramarines iconography and details influenced by Roman sculpture.” Perturabo, Primarch of the Iron WarriorsYes, he’s straight-laced and boy howdy does he have some anger management issues. Ferrus also has an obsession with perfection. (For the record, I really hate that word now.) The difference between them is how they go about achieving perfection. Fulgrim’s Emperor’s Children strive for perfection across the board, including in the arts, to the point of obnoxiousness. The Iron Hands want to be perfect in how they do things on the battlefield. It’s a far narrower focus, and while it takes some of the arrogance away, the Iron Hands still have an incredible amount of pride.
