Bunker shots. Lower bounce on the wedge is preferred for hard bunker shots and higher bounce is preferred for fluffy and soft bunkers. If the bounce is too high on harder surfaces, the club will bounce the leading edge into the ball and you will thin it a lot. If there is not enough bounce on a wedge in soft bunkers your club will dig instead of skim as it is supposed to. I also went to this set up years ago, for me it’s more mental, the 58 tells me to get the darn ball on green. The 60 tells me to get cute and try stuff i have no business trying. Yes, the 50-54-58 combo is exactly what I play as well and I don't plan to ever change it. Way better than the 56 and 60 that I used to have.

50 54 58 Wedge Set - The Best Combo? Is it? 50 54 58 Wedge Set - The Best Combo? Is it?

I’ve played 52*/56*/60* for as long as I can remember. I just had an iron fitting and realized that my wedge gaps may be a problem. It is also worth noting that the 50-degree wedge is not always included in wedge sets. Some golfers may opt for a 52-degree gap wedge instead, while others may choose to use their pitching wedge as a gap wedge and only carry a sand and lob wedge. Its many reasons, first of all that many play a PW with higher loft than 46* (47* and 48 is common on the tour)Having both a regular 50 and a Spin-Milled 54 gives me lots of options around the greens for chipping too. By chance, the 46° PW had the same shaft length as the 50° and 52° CGs. So, I assumed I would need the 52° to get distance separation between the two because of equal shaft length. Titleist Vokey SM8 wedges took the next innovative leap forward – Featuring a centre of gravity that is pushed forward from the face, through the use of high-density tungsten, producing a more consistent, pure strike that helps you hit your target more often. Great question and in our opinion, it all depends on what type of player you are compared to your setup. The reality is players may have 52 stamped, but they are most likely adjusted to a specific degree, be it 50, 51.5 etc, and would recommend doing whatever suits you best vs comparing what the pros do.

If you are comfortable with gaps and have a “work-around” then it’s all based on preference and the ability to cover those gaps. I have been playing 46 PW with 50, 54, 58 for several years now. I thought it was smart, due to the consistent 4* gap. What I had not thought of is that the normal 4* gap between clubs also includes a 1/4" shaft difference. My 50, 54 & 58 are the same length so the yardage gap is actually less than the yardage gap of 4* + 1/4" that exists in the other irons. Ultimately, the best wedge set for a golfer will depend on their individual needs and preferences. It is important to try out different clubs and combinations to 50-Degree Wedge Set Brand For me you should have less wedges, it makes you a better player as you will learn to hit "part" shots with them. Having a 50 and 54 in my eyes will make you always look for the perfect yardage, then you will struggle when you have something in the middle as you will always be looking to hit a full shot. That was my experience anyway when i used to play that setup.

What is a 50-54-58 Wedge Set?

im a 6 handicap and make enough mediocre swings that my set gap wedge makes for sense for me... I can still hit the low arc spinner with it, and around the greens I don’t want the added spin from a specialty wedge with it.

54*/58*? - Vokey How difficult is transition from 56*/60* to 54*/58*? - Vokey

Yes you can use a 58 degree wedge as a sand wedge. It's a good option for golfers who struggle with their sand shots and often leave the golf ball in the bunker. Choosing a high bounce club will also help with playing bunker shots out of softer, fluffier bunkers as mentioned above.Next is actual gaps, loft itself is the most important, but if you play a different shaft for wedge, the same 4* of gaps might not be right into wedges. The sets' 45* pitching wedge (125 yards)and also the sets 49* gap wedge (112-115 yards) with "hot face" are considered short full swing irons. We believe the most important things are correct gapping, ensuring you are fitted for wedges and having the right type in your hands that suit your swing + deciding on lofts depending on your capabilities to hit half and 3/4 shots. If you have that ability and are confident, trying going down to 2 wedges outside your iron set. Irons grab bag: 1-PW Golden Ram TW276, NV105 S; 1-PW Golden Ram TW282, RIP Tour 115 R; 2-PW Golden Ram Vibration Matched, NS Pro 950WF S; testing: Arias D-23 5i w/Modus 120 S As my Titleist fitter pointed out, the wear on the 56* is heaviest, and it is my go to club around greens and certainly green side bunkers. The 60* is used for those delicate, short side shots that need to stop fast.

Gumtree.com Limited is an Appointed Representative of Compare The Market Limited who is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority. Here's what I have been playing for the last two years... Really like the progression and versatility of it.Do you carry a 3W and a Hybrid? I personally dropped my hybrid and added the extra wedge because I was hitting my 3 iron just as far as the hybrid and I don't have the tendency to top the 3 iron like I did with the hybrid. Wedges*: Calla MD3: 48 °... MD4: 54 °, 58 ° Some iron sets will have a more traditionally lofted pitching wedge at 46 degrees. If you have one of these you could go for three wedges set up like this: Thank you EVERYONE for all your input. They have all been tremendously helpful. I plan on going to a shop and test out wedges to close the yardage gaps; not the loft gaps. Will keep you all posted on my results in case anybody is interested! So I have a 50.08° 200 Series Oil Can Vokey Wedge, a 54°.10 SM Oil Can Vokey Wedge and a 58°.12 SM Oil Can Vokey Wedge. (The wedges have 5.5 Rifle Spinner Shafts.)
