Despite its potential complexity, the game is highly customisable with multiple difficulty levels that greatly alter the gameplay and add entirely new mechanics - hence all the rulebooks. If you like the zombie genre but want your tabletop gaming with a bit more meat on its bones, Dawn of the Zeds is the zombie board game for you. Zombie Kidz Evolution is a sequel to the 2013 board game Zombie Kidz, which I must admit was one that flew under the radar for me. The Walking Dead: All Out War: The infamous characters of Robert Kirkman's comic book series wage miniature war across an undead-filled battlefield. While some of the games on this list include player-controlled zombies, all of them include survivors battling against the zombie threat. But what if we just wanted to be a bunch of zom-bros having a night out on the town?

But how does it compare to the original” you might ask? I’ll be honest, while the game play is roughly the same, the difference is night and day, like comparing a minivan to a muscle car. From the next paragraph onwards my thoughts contain some minor spoilers, but if you want to avoid all spoilers then here’s what you need to know: Zombie Kidz Evolution is a huge improvement and strengthening of what was already a fun children’s co-operative game.Dead of Winter: Build a compelling narrative of harsh survival, heroic collaboration, and devastating betrayal. Zombie Teenz is a game that evolves, like its predecessor, Zombie Kidz. These two games are different and independent, but compatible. Hit Z Road: The genre takes a sharp left turn where players bid for the most optimal route while driving cross-country across a zombified USA. If a horde reaches a building, that building is overrun and the zombies build a trampoline. They can use this trampoline to overrun the next building if they move again before you defeat them. Zombie Kidz Evolution - Board Game - Family and Kids Guide

This adds a really fun element of anticipation and suprise to the game. I’m not going to spoil what’s inside the envelopes, but they do add extra layers of complexity at a manageable pace – just at the point where you perhaps figure that you’ve got the zombies under control. The good thing is that these extra components and rules are entirely optional if players find that they make the game too difficult or frustrating. Final Score: 5 Stars – A perfect “big kids” game. Legacy-game envelopes give them a reason to want to play over and over. The player can move their character to an adjacent board space (if a board space contains 3 or more zombies, they cannot move there)Now its creator has returned with follow-up Zombie Teenz Evolution, and while there’s plenty here to appeal to fans of its predecessor, it also comes with a collection of new twists and challenges. Where Kidz’ action unfolded in the confines of a besieged school, Teenz widens its scope with a board showing a grid of city streets. You and your friends will need to work together to venture into the zombie-plagued environment, retrieving supplies from buildings before the dead manage to force their way inside. Zombie Teenz seems to work perfectly for around my son’s age, I’d say 6-10 years old. But I’ve played with kids as young as 5 and as old as 14. While the game isn’t quite complicated enough that I would consider bringing it out for an adult game night or anything, it works well enough across most age ranges. And some of the missions can be extremely difficult so even a room full of adults might struggle to complete all of them. Final Thoughts: A lot of the actions and mechanics are similar to Kidz but changed enough to make Teenz a distinct experience. The see-saws stood at attention like ranks of soldiers waiting to charge into battle, the swings moved lazily in the breeze, and the merry-go-round creaked softly. The side doors stood open as if inviting the children to enter. The creatures shuffling around in the dim light of the cafeteria were the last things standing between them and a zombie free Briar Glen. This is a Collecting and Traversal game with Race, Role-Play and Sequencing elements. You can play with 2 to 4 players in the same room. There's a two-player side to the board to adjust the challenge for two. It's really best played with three or four players though.

Dawn of the Zeds: Manage multiple lanes of zombie invaders and heroic townsfolk in this solo-friendly survival game. The story elements do not influence play as it would in, for example, Pandemic Legacy. Zombie Teenz Evolution is not a linear, narrative game. But the little bits of comic add flavour and context, which is an enjoyable new dimension to the game. Final thoughts Despite its small size, the fun components really help sell the theme. Equipping a little plastic chainsaw on your meeple before heading out to hunt some zeds is always fun, and who can resist placing their meeple in the little wooden police car before crashing into the hardware store? Tiny Epic Zombies isn't only one of the best Tiny Epic games, it also keeps up with its bigger siblings on this list. Zombie Kidz Evolution is aimed at children, and I wouldn’t recommend playing it with just grownups. Don’t get me wrong, I have enjoyed playing the majority of rounds with my boys. All three of my boys have played it without me too. The turn phase and objective is simple enough for my six year old to fathom. A minor downside personally is this is a four player game and there is five of us, so we either need to partner up or someone needs to find something else to do. Do not be put off by the legacy element of Zombie Kidz Evolution. Hours, upon hours of family fun can be had with this superb board game that has been a massive hit with our three boys. We really do recommend it!
