Pressing the Under Armour logo on the right earcup will drop down your music volume and pipe in surrounding sounds. Audio quality

With a one-year warranty and a seemingly protective carrying case, I don’t think you need to worry about these headphones tapping out after just a few workouts. Keep them charged, and they should be everyday gym fixtures. Should you buy them? hour battery life with fast charging—Speed Charge gets 2 hours in 5 minutes & fully charged in 2 hours Mashable is a registered trademark of Ziff Davis and may not be used by third parties without express written permission. Active mode is best saved for runs, retaining a degree of noise-cancelling whilst letting in some ambient sounds to establish awareness of surroundings. I wish the design felt a bit more substantial; the flimsy feel can be off-putting. You will also likely find that while the pressure on your ears to be uncomfortable, but it goes down after a short time.UA Storm Super Grip maximizes stability & UA SuperVent ear cushions are breathable, light & fast-drying Turn your headphones on, and hold the power slider up for three seconds. The headphones will enter pairing mode. UA Stormproof waterproof technology with an IPX7 rating for water & sweat protection during your workouts Audio tinkerers may find that the JBL Headphones app opens up a lot of custom EQ options to play with.

The Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless earbuds, by comparison, probably have superior audio, but include difficult and imprecise touch controls, when it would have been simpler to remove some from the equation. Rugged, on-ear design, with an IPX4 rating, built to withstand sweat in the toughest gym conditions Bassheads will enjoy the bass emphasis of both the default frequency response and Dwayne Johnson’s custom EQ.

Everyday is the go-to default, and it does a fine job of keeping unwanted noise at bay. It isn’t quite as powerful as the noise-cancelling on Sony’s premium headphones, but it extinguishes the gym radio to a barely audible hum. Another great audio brand that has stepped into the exercise sphere is Jabra. The Jabra Elite Active 75t are IPX7-rated and forgo extreme battery life, though the Elite Active 75t is still very good, for a more compact and versatile design. You can EQ the sound in the Jabra companion app, and take a hearing test to create a custom sound profile. I’m pleased that JBL has considered outdoor activities; however, personally I’ve had more use out of the dedicated Ambient mode. There are a couple of options to choose from: Ambient Aware pulls in all external noise to be heard alongside music; TalkThru lowers the volume and hones in on nearby conversations so you can engage in chit-chat without removing the headphones. One key difference here is weight. The Adidas came in at 209 grams, with the Wireless Train tipping the scales at 240 grams. It’s not overtly noticeable, as each pair of headphones distributes the weight well. But if you’re trying to keep your headphones as light as possible, this is surely something to make note of.

This same sweat resistance is evident with the ear cups. The padding around them is breathable, which helps relieve some sweat buildup, plus the pads are removable for easy cleaning. The inside of each cup brandishes either an “L” or “R” so you know which ears they go on. The right ear cup is home to all of the controls, and they are quite oversized so you can easily find them by touch. Still, the power/Bluetooth pairing button isn't intuitive: You have to slide it up and hold it for about five seconds till it turns white for pairing; it will eventually turn blue once the headphones are connected to your device. Includes: 3 size ear tips, 3 winged ear tip enhancers, charging case with Micro-USB port & charging cable Whenever a celebrity gets involved in a piece of tech, I can’t help but wince since it’s usually a warning sign for what’s in store. Will.i.am put his name to a number of bizarre products in the 2010s (does anyone remember the Puls smartwatch?), and who can forget Soulja Boy’s disastrous gaming console? (Clearly most of us have.) Connection stability is reliable and better than the first-generation, largely due to the new Bluetooth 5.0 firmware. During my test period, I walked throughout my 700-square-foot apartment, and a connection was maintained the entire time. Hiccups only occurred when three layers of drywall were between the earbuds and my smartphone. I also noticed a few hiccups outside, but there were fewer than five instances in 10 days of use. From indoor cycling to skateboarding, these earbuds served me well during all of my activities. Whenever I cycle, I become grossly sweaty but the IPX7-rated UA True Wireless FLASH X by JBL handled my perspiration like a champ. The buttons were easy to control with sweaty palms and fingers; I only wish that volume controls were enabled directly from the headset. Athletes who use chalk may want to use these earbuds with caution because they aren’t officially dust-resistant. I’m not thrilled about the Wireless Train supporting just Bluetooth 4.1 technology, since it means connectivity and range aren’t up to par with devices that support the newer, better Bluetooth 5 standard. This brings up an important caveat about the Wireless Train: At the time of this review, they’re already two years old. In tech time, that’s about a century. After reviewing the Adidas RPT-01, I went looking for the closest comparison I could find. The Wireless Train were the clear answer because of their price and design, and unfortunately for these headphones, they’re going to be rated by modern-day standards instead of their heyday in 2018. That’s not to say the Wireless Train can’t still be capable headphones — they can. But up against a comparatively brand-new product, it’s going to be an uphill battle for these JBL cans. Design
