Description

The active ingredients in this product are liquid paraffin and acetylated wool alcohols. These are known as emollients. When used as part of your bathing routine, the product helps to; Very rarely, hypersensitivity including anaphylactic reaction (see sections 4.3 and 4.4) is possible (based on literature for chlorhexidine-containing products).

Hydromol Intensive is used to relieve the discomfort of clinically dry skin conditions. It contains a high concentration of urea, a component of the skin’s own Natural Moisturising Factor (NMF). It acts as a humectant to moisturise the skin from the inside. Emollients help soften, moisturise and protect the skin. They play a central role in the treatment and management of dry skin conditions. It can make your bath slippery, so be careful to avoid slipping over when getting into and out of your bath. Be careful when handling babies and young children. Try to avoid using normal soaps or bath additives (even those labelled “moisturising”). This is because they tend to dry and irritate the skin. Avoid using products containing fragrances, as these can also cause skin problems. You should try to use a fragrance-free emollient “soap substitute” instead. This type of product will not foam or lather but will be better for your dry skin condition. Complete Emollient Therapy, or CET, involves the frequent and liberal application of emollient moisturisers to the skin, and the replacement of wash products with emollient equivalents.

Dermol 200 Shower Emollient contains 5% of emollient oils in a non-greasy aqueous system which also contains the well-known and effective antiseptics benzalkonium chloride and chlorhexidine dihydrochloride. Its antimicrobial properties assist in overcoming infection, whether from Staph aureus, the pathogen which often complicates eczema and associated pruritus, or secondary infection caused by scratching. Patients with dry skin conditions have a deficiency of the natural oils which assist in the retention of moisture. Add approximately 15 to 20 ml (1½ to 2 capfuls) to a normal sized bath filled with water to a depth of roughly 20 cm (8 inches).Combines the actions of a humectant with the occlusive properties of Paraffin, to help lubricate and enhance the water capacity of the skin. 3

The active ingredients in this product are liquid paraffin (65% w/w) and acetylated wool alcohols (5% w/w). Do not use Dermalo Bath Emollient after the expiry date shown on the bottle. The expiry date refers to the last day of that month.
