If there’s one surprising point in the Honor Pad 8’s favor, it’s that its battery life is surprisingly good.

The body feels solid without being too heavy at 520g which is less than a Nintendo Switch Lite or a 12.9-inch iPad Pro.The Snapdragon 680 is a mid-range chip that isn’t exactly a powerhouse but it’s also not exactly a weakling either but is more of a multimedia processor, not a gaming processor.

camera bump. Actual dimensions and weight may vary due to product configurations, manufacturing processes, and It’s the value tablet to beat, that much is clear, but that doesn’t stop manufacturers such as Honor from having a go at taking the top spot. Announced at IFA 2022, the company’s latest tablet, the Honor Pad 8, is a good chunk cheaper than the basic iPad. But is it worth avoiding any potential headaches by paying extra and going the Apple route instead? A much-welcome software feature is multi-window viewing, including a split-screen mode that is really useful for multi-tasking between two different apps as the same time in a way that’s a little closer to the desktop experience with a screen as big as this one. Battery Life Chinese tech brand Honor is known primarily for their flashy handsets and mid-range phones that push the envelope. The Honor Pad 8 successfully transplants Honor’s stylish design and aesthetics to a large, mid-range tablet device.

Camera is not usually the priority for tablets, so we can be more forgiving about flaws here rather than on smartphones; however, this tablet actually does a pretty good job with this in mind, and will certainly function well for its intended purposes. Performance standards are good for a tablet of this price, and I didn’t experience the kind of stuttering or lag that does afflict some similarly-priced tablets, while the battery was long-lasting and relatively fast-charging too. The Honor Pad 8 is equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 680 chipset alongside 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. This is a low-cost processor favoured by budget smartphone makers including Xiaomi and Realme, and in practical terms it doesn’t do anything remotely special. Again, for some people, performance isn’t important, but it did make the user experience a little frustrating at times. With the 60Hz screen and a less powerful processor is not a gaming machine and that’s fine. Although surprisingly I did manage to run demanding games like Genshin Impact but not at high detail. The tablet is better suited to older, offline games like Baldur’s Gate, X-Com, and GTA Vice City.

The Honor tablet has a 5MP front and 5MP rear camera. Of course, you’re probably not buying this for photography, because even a dirt-cheap phone has better snappers, but they’re fit for purpose. The Metal Unibody Body features anodized sandblasting technology to bring you a delicate touch 1.0R Its eight-speaker stereo surround sound range sounded great not only loud but clear but it also supports A few years ago, the Honor Pad 8 would have been an intriguing model, but after the Covid-induced tablet boom of 2020 and 2021, this is a flooded market and Honor has failed to create a tablet that really stands out. Nonetheless, it works pretty well as a companion for video since the aspect ratio (10:6) is clearly well-suited for widescreen content. Watching nature videos on YouTube was perfectly pleasant, and whilst the colours aren’t as punchy nor the resolution as crisp as it is on many smartphones, it acquits itself well against other tablets at this price point. PerformanceTÜV Rheinland hardware-level low blue light + no strobe dual eye protection certification, with built-in The Honor Pad 8 is a gigantic slab of metal and glass. Its unibody construction isn’t out of the ordinary, but the clean-cut edges, brushed aluminium rear and rounded corners do look rather swish. Weighing only 520g, it’s not too heavy, and an added bonus is that it’s also thinner than the 2021 iPad at just 6.9mm. The Honor Pad 8 is every bit as good as many other Android tablets that came before it, and with reliable battery life, a colour-accurate display and solid build, it does a lot right. However, its foibles are too great to ignore.
