(“Whiskybase”, “we” or “us”, company details below) offers a whisky enthusiasts online platform that provides its members access to the most comprehensive, transparent and trusted resource of whisky bottles and allows and stimulates its members to contribute information about whisky bottles to the platform (“Service”). Our bins hold 18-24 bottles of wine or Champagne or 2-3 cases of lager when filled with ice and water. Drinks will be chilled in 30-45 minutes and will be kept cold for several hours, especially if kept in the shade. If any provision of these Terms is held invalid, the remainder of the Terms shall continue in full force and effect. The Dalmore 18 Year Old (image via Forrest Price/The Whiskey Wash) Tasting Notes: The Dalmore 18 YearRegardless of whether the Service offers the functionality to contribute, you are solely responsible and liable for any content and information that you create, upload, post, publish, link to, duplicate, transmit, record, display or otherwise make available on the Service or to other Members, such as chat messages, text messages, videos, audio, audio recordings, music, pictures, photographs, text and any other information or materials, whether publicly posted or privately transmitted (“Contributions”). For my money, The Dalmore 18 falls into the category of, “it is tasty, but how tasty is it?” The prices associated with The Dalmore as a brand in recent years have been difficult for me to rationalize in terms of depth of experience in certain single malts. Each and every Member must be of legal drinking age in its country of residence to be allowed to use the Service. If no such law exists in a Member’s country of residence, the Member has to be over 21 years old to use the Service. We have the right to ask you to provide proof of your age and/or to provide further identification to prevent underage usage and/or for any other legal or legitimate purpose. By using the Service, and by creating an account you represent, warrant and confirm that you are of legal age. The history of their craft is as long and proud as Dalmore’s heritage, a tradition that is upheld by Master Distiller Richard Paterson, who personally hand selects the exceptional casks in which their whisky is matured and where Dalmore’s celebrated flavour is finessed. Sherry cask aging is probably one of the most mentioned attributes in the whiskey vernacular, yet in terms of understanding, sherry tends to be overlooked. It is common knowledge that sherry is a fortified wine produced from Spain. It is becoming more common for people to recognize the names of the main styles of sherry, such as fino, oloroso, and Pedro Ximénez (PX). But what are the requirements for making it? We whiskey nerds love aging processes, so how is it aged? The Dalmore obsesses over the sherry barrels they select, and knowing more about sherry can help you understand why.

Nose: Fruity and spicy with notes of vanilla, orange zest and potpourri, marmalade and sweet milk chocolate. Whisky Review: The Dalmore 18 Year - The Whiskey Wash Whisky Review: The Dalmore 18 Year - The Whiskey Wash

No partnership, joint venture, agency, or employment relationship is created as a result of your use of the Service. On the palate, it is harsh and peppery. Any wood or smoke disappears almost immediately, and if there is toffee; it is well burn. Palate: A delicious fireside dram with notes of chocolate raisins, juicy citrus, stewed fruits, old sherry and pepper. The distillery describes the 18-year-old as “an evolution” of the house style. Let’s taste and see what exactly that means. Tasting Notes: The Dalmore 18The Dalmore has set the standard for cask ageing for over 150 years. Master Distiller Richard Paterson has been the creative force here for nearly five decades. He hand-selects the casks from the world's finest wineries, bodegas and distilleries and ages the whiskies in them to create something truly remarkable. This 18-year-old Single Malt has been matured in a number of casks previously used to age bourbon whisky and Oloroso sherries. It has aromas of vanilla, dark chocolate, orange and cinnamon and flavours of dark chocolate, candied citrus fruits, coffee and nutmeg. This annual limited edition begins its maturation journey in American white oak ex-Bourbon barrels, giving a base of soft vanilla and honey. Further enhancement follows, with a longer finishing in hand-selected 30 year old Matusalem Oloroso Sherry casks from the González Byass bodega in Spain, exclusive to The Dalmore. We may, but are not under any obligation, to release new functionalities and tools or other features for the Service every now and then. Any new functionalities, tools and features shall be part of and governed by the Terms from the moment they are launched and/or available. Palate: Sweet, dry, and rich. Fruity and only very slightly salty. Fresh plum, chocolate syrup, chocolate covered raisins, coffee, tobacco. Very full sherry presence throughout. Continued tobacco segues into the finish. Dry, with a soft bitterness. Wisps of coffee and cream. Final Thoughts:

Over 90% of sherry is made from the grape variety palomino, but sherry can also be made from moscatel or Pedro Ximénez grapes. All sherry is fortified with neutral grape spirit after fermentation and will always be at least three years old.
