The Bushbox LF ("LF" stands for "Large, Foldable") combines the advantages of both our original Bushbox and the Bushbox XLin one stove: it is small and compact, foldable and every bit as efficient as the Bushbox XL. It's easy to burn low when any cookware(mug, cooker, etc.) is set on trivet. Trivet height is low, so difficult to realize chimney effect. It seems to be a lid when something is set on trivet. When it comes to ultralight cooking with liquid fuel, alcohol stoves are tough to beat. Not only are they generally compact, lightweight, and efficient, but the fuel is widely available and easy to find practically anywhere. Once you are finished cooking, either let the wood burn out by itself, or, using some sort of tongs or hot pad, shake or dump out the wood in a safe place where it can burn out on it’s own.

I have the 5" Firebox, only improvement would be weight. Its a very versatile cooking machine and pretty much bomb proof. The BushBox XL Combination Kit weighs in at just over 800g, so it’s not the lightest, but it’s made from solid materials, which mean your food is in safe hands on top of it. For its size it is ultra portable, folding down to thinner than 1 cm, inside its own special carrying case. This last step is optional unless you are using a very small cookpot or are going to grill on your Bushbox Ultralight. Most of the time I do use the trivet, but only so I don’t lose it – and I’m sure it does add some strength to the stove. You can use rubbing alcohol (91% denatured alcohol) from any drug store or Heet (or similar) fuel stabilizers that can be found at gas stations and auto parts stores.

Here are a few things that can make your experience with the Bushbox Ultralight much more enjoyable and the stove more versatile. I have a 5" Firebox with a bunch of accessories. It is a great stove in all ways but weight. I also have the larger Emberlit Ti stove for comparison. Firebox has a bunch of versatility over the Bushbox but you can get the LF and XL in Ti of course at premium pricing though. The triangular design makes it fairly stable even with a larger pot. The size though is perfect for a camping personal pot as you can see from the video. I chose wood as a fuel because it is the hardest to use on this but it proved pretty easy even with a bit of wind (as you can hear from the beginning of the video). You can choose to use either the top piece or the dents to put your pot on, depending on the size. I needed very little fuel to boil a cup of water and using little biomass is the main purpose of these little stoves. Also add the ashtray collector piece and it becomes isolated from the ground and therefore safer to use everywhere. With the included trivet you can use the stove with almost all pot sizes, extremely variable and versatile. Again, the great thing about the Bushbox Ultralight is that you can use it with other types of fuels and cooking methods to best suit nearly any situation. Cleaning a Firebox StoveI gave use 4 stars because you have to make sure that the pot you are using fits inside the elevated potrests or is big enough to fit stabil on top of them. A great simple design that works really well... exceptionally small and light. What works best for me: Now if you want more power, I suggest you consider the Bushbox XL also from this maker. Like this one, it has a very well thought and sturdy design and you can't go wrong. This model is ultra lightweight, the other one not so but a real workhorse. I guess it suitable to take a warm without anything on trivet, but not good to cook something because difficult to keep constant fire power.

For smaller camp mugs and cookpots, you will want to use the trivet and set them directly on that. I’ve heated up water in my TOAKS 450ml mug this way on many occasions and, while it works great, you do have to be mindful that the mug is going to get pretty hot. Use a hot pad and let it cool sufficiently before trying to drink from it. Sterno is not the “go to” camp cooking fuel it once was, but it is still a viable way to cook while out on the trail and works wonderfully with the Bushbox Ultralight. The Bushcraft Essentials Bushbox Ultralight Stove can be used with wood and other organic material, a standard Trangia burner or even a Esbit. There are some tiny tab holders that hold the trivet in place that I keep thinking will break off or bend at some point, but they never do. After a few years of monthly use, my Bushbox Ultralight still assembles and disassembles perfectly with no problems.Alcohol stoves come in a wide variety of shapes and sizes, from a simple homemade beer can stove, to ultralight titanium stoves like the , to the traditional Trangia-style burner. Solid fuel tablets like Esbit or hexamine work great in the Bushbox Ultralight. If you are suing the tablets by themselves, simply place the tablets right onto the grill plate. The holes in the grill plate will allow the tablet to get plenty of oxygen and burn with maximum efficiency. Various notches allow for the Trivets to be inserted in different positions as required and ensure sufficient air supply between flame and cookware. Here I am attaching the last side plate on the Bushbox Ultralight by inserting the tab into the slot and lining things up as I hinge it in place. STEP 4: Attach the Trivet
