Description

Electrically operated, pneumatic precision production tool. Strips insulation types in the #10 to #30 AWG range. Accommodates up to six different wire guide/blade and strip length configurations. Allows operators to strip six different wire diameters, insulations and strip lengths without switching tools or reinstalling blade sets. Special guides and blades available on request. Meets military and aerospace requirements. Maximum strip length is 5/8 inch. This stripper works with 10- to 20-gauge wire, which is ideal for most home projects. Plus, we could shear off the tip of a small 6-32 copper screw without exerting a lot of pressure on the handles; the Greenlee will also shear 8-32 sized screws. The slide-on nonslip grips proved to be very comfortable.

Steel armoured cable stripper - Ideal for slitting the corrugated copper, steel or aluminium armour layer on fibre feeder, central tube, stranded loose tube fibre optic cables and other armoured cables. Stripping or cutting live wires is not a sensible idea as it is potentially very dangerous. However, professional electricians are required to work with live wiring on occasion, and several models of stripper and plier feature electrically-insulated handles for these tasks. An AWG range that fits with the wires users work with most often will help them avoid using the wrong tool for the job, which always has the potential to go badly. However, wire strippers that can handle burly 2- and 4-gauge wires won’t work for thin 22-gauge wires. Unless users are professional electricians, computer technicians, or tech hobbyists, they may never deal with wires on either end of this spectrum, so a good do-it-all set of strippers that works with wires typically encountered during a home repair or installation should suffice. In general, this would be between 10 and 18 gauge. If you often work with delicate, small wires, such as those used in electronic devices, then you'll appreciate the accuracy of the Jonard Tools WS-5 Adjustable Wire Stripper, which lets you strip or cut solid or stranded wire from 10 to 30 AWG. That means you can use the same wire stripper for most household electrical repairs, as well as working on your electronic devices. This wire stripper has an adjustable screw that lets you set the tool to just the right size for the wire. It also has a looping hole for solid wire. We made sure to select tools with AWG ranges of 10 to 18 gauge or 10 to 24 gauge to accommodate a variety of wire sizes. Plus, we added a couple of cable strippers to the mix. Self-Adjusting Wire Strippers: These wire strippers feature a mechanism that automatically adjusts to the wire gauge, eliminating the need for manual adjustment. They are versatile and can handle a wide range of wire gauges, making them a convenient choice for those working with different types of wires. Adjustable stripper - self-adjusting stripper with the ability to crimp, strip and snip wires. Designed with precision and made to last.

We evaluated wire strippers based on the sturdiness of their construction, the precision of their performance, their versatility, and their overall value. Most wire strippers have rubber coating over their handles to provide a comfortable, nonslip surface for all-day use without causing pain or discomfort. The higher the quality of the tool, however, the better the rubber used for these handles. In many cases, manufacturers use silicone, as it’s soft to the touch and less likely to slip off the end of the handles. Prepare the wire: Start by identifying the wire you want to strip. Ensure that the power source is turned off and the wire is not live. If necessary, disconnect the wire from any power source or equipment. Needle-nose tip: If you need to guide cut wires through conduit or bend them onto terminals, it can be less of a hassle if the strippers have a needle nose plier tip to grip them with. It’ll save you the time spent switching between tools.Wire strippers are an essential tool for any electrician or mechanical engineer. Wire strippers create a neat and tidy cut to reveal wires, ready to be soldered or have a connector attached. Types of wire strippers Professionals and DIYers can easily use the Irwin Vise-Grip, even with just one hand. Simply slide the wire through the jaws, squeeze the handle, and produce a perfectly stripped wire. Plus, this model cuts wire. The modestly priced Irwin Vise-Grip Multi-Tool Stripper includes handy features such as hardened cutting teeth and electrical screw shears. We were impressed by the number of functions on the Irwin wire stripper, especially because it comes at a very attractive price point. In addition to cutting and stripping wires from 10 to 22 gauge in size, this handy tool offers crimping ability, so we could securely attach terminal connectors to the ends of the wires we’d stripped. In addition, the Irwin wire stripper boasts serrated plier tips that we used to bend the wires’ ends to attach them to nut-type terminals. With “deep-V” for larger cable diameters up to 3.030 in. ReflexT Premium T ®-Stripper Wire Strippers Try to match the diameter of the wire with the holes on the jaw of the wire stripping tool. It is essential that you match this up correctly. Too big of a hole can lead to the wire insulation not being sufficiently cut. Alternatively, if you choose a hole that is too small you run the risk of damage or even severing the wire entirely.

One alternative tool for stripping wires is a utility knife or a sharp blade. With a utility knife, you can carefully score the insulation along the length of the wire and then use your fingers or pliers to peel off the insulation. This method requires caution and precision to avoid damaging the wire or injuring yourself. It is only recommended for small-gauge wires and should be used as a last resort. Select the appropriate wire gauge: Wire strippers come with different-sized holes to accommodate wires of various gauges. Choose the hole that matches the gauge of your wire. If you’re unsure about the wire gauge, consult a wire gauge chart or use a wire gauge tool to measure it. To select the wire strippers we wanted to test, we researched the models offered by the top tool brands with high customer satisfaction. We considered build material, AWG range, functionality, comfort, ease of use, and unique features. These may seem like simple, standardized hand tools, but there are actually a few important features that set one wire stripper apart from another. Some are designed to do repetitive stripping fast, and others are intended for repair work that requires care and versatility. Below are the key features to think about when shopping for a modern set of wire strippers. Automatic Wire Strippers: These wire strippers are designed to automatically adjust to the wire size and strip the insulation off with minimal effort. They are ideal for high-volume stripping tasks and can save you a lot of time and effort. Self-Adjusting Wire Strippers: Similar to automatic wire strippers, self-adjusting wire strippers also adjust to the wire size automatically. However, they also feature a mechanism that allows them to strip wires of different gauges without manual adjustment. These are versatile and can handle a wide range of wire sizes. Electronics: Wire strippers are also widely used in electronics projects. Whether you are building a circuit board or repairing electronic devices, you will often need to strip the insulation off small gauge wires. Wire strippers with precision cutting edges are perfect for this task, allowing you to strip wires without damaging the delicate conductors.
