Though we can’t compare the results, we did put the D3F through the test and got an average stopping distance of 6-feet 11-inches, which is a very short distance. Considering the max speed, that likely indicates these brakes are plenty powerful. The compactness makes the DYU D3F quite wobbly. This is why we said the top speed of 15.5 mph is fast enough. However, the small wheels give this bike low gearing, making climbing small hills surprisingly spritely. Still, you may want to avoid cobbles and potholes, as they will feel much larger than they would on an electric bike with larger wheels. The display on the DYU D3F has a clean and simple look. The screen is easy to see and read, even in direct sunlight, and it features intuitive controls. There’s a button located on the left to switch the bike on, while the right-hand button switches the cadence sensor on and off. e-Bikes and e-Cargo bikes can be legally ridden on roads if you are over 14 years old and if the e-Bike or e-Cargo fits a strict criteria which can be found here.

In this DYU D3F Folding E-Bike Review, I would be remiss not to mention that while excellent for smooth road commuting or leisurely jaunts, it’s no off-roading beast. Small wheels and a compact frame do not a mountain bike make. You may feel more shake, rattle and roll than you’d like on uneven terrain. Another consideration is the bike’s small size, which may not be the most comfortable for adults on longer rides. The compact design of the DYU D3F, while advantageous for portability, may limit the ergonomic comfort that riders seek during extended journeys. However, for shorter commutes and leisure rides, the size should not pose a significant problem. The D3F has small wheels and a short wheelbase, which significantly contributes to its compactness. However, this doesn’t create the most stable ride. The combination of a long stem, straight narrow handlebars, and a small 14” wheelset makes this bike very twitchy to steer, with small movements resulting in big responses. These small wheels are not very comfortable at speed. It feels like you’re riding a shrunken little unit, and I was thankful the thing tops out at 15.5 mph. At speed, I prefer a mini e-bike with a larger wheelset. So be careful riding the DYU D3F! Overall, the handling lends itself more to being a child’s toy than a true e-bike. If you’re planning a grand tour on a single charge, you may come up short. The DYU D3F parks up after XX km, so careful planning of your route may be necessary to avoid the dread of running out of juice mid-journey.

The bike is a little strange, with its long stem and short standover height. It was not built for tall people, and at 6’0”, I felt cramped. Because I struggled to find adequate legroom, pedaling was uncomfortable, even with the seatpost fully extended. The long stem and tiny tires also make for a jittery steering experience. In general, the bike feels just how it looks; small and a little odd. The frame is pretty robust. At 38 lb, the bike is compact. A built-in handle provides a convenient and easy carrying position. The brakes also have cut-off switches built into the levers. This means that when you brake, the motor automatically switches off, shortening your stopping distances, which is a welcome safety feature. That curvy shape inside the frame is a box that houses the 36V 10 Ah lithium-ion battery. This takes 5 to 6 hours to charge from 0 to 100% and gives you 15 to 35 miles of range in throttle mode and 30 to 37 miles using pedal assist. But the range will vary dramatically depending on your weight, the profile of your journey, and how you ride.Electric bikes are getting cheaper and cheaper, but fewer are cheaper than the electric minibikes made by DYU.

The motor isn’t the best for hill climbing but on a flat surface it has no problem cruising at 12-13 mph.The brakes are mechanical disk brakes, and an important note here is that the set on our review bike arrived reversed with the left hand lever operating the rear brake and the right lever operating the front brake.

It’s got a single speed drivetrain with a 38x12t ratio that feels a little spinny while you’re cruising but is a nice gear for helping the motor up hills. Electrifying Expedition: An added electric boost whenever you pedal ensures this e-bike pushes the boundaries of ride comfort. It proves invaluable for regular commuting or long-distance biking, reducing the strain and promoting a seamless travel experience.Another sign that DYU is confident that the D3F is to be used as a legitimate form of transport is waterproofing. They have made this electric bike IP54, which means it’s protected against contamination from limited amounts of dust and water spray in any direction. So, you can ride it in the rain, but don’t clean it with a pressure washer or ride through a ford.
