If any of those things apply to you, then go for it – these are still attractively priced, effective HQs. The Canoness’s datasheet has also been tidied up considerably from the mind-bending horror it evolved into in 8th, being way, way easier to understand! The Book of Fire is the next chapter in this campaign, and it sees fresh forces being drawn into the escalating conflict – including the daemonic hordes of Be’lakor and the newly anointed Abbess Sanctorum, Morvenn Vahl herself.

As standard, there’s six Warlord traits on offer here, and while the names are all the same there’s a reasonable number of changes on offer. As the rank and file of the Adepta Sororitas, it falls to Battle Sister squads to hold the battlefield’s vital points in the face of whatever the enemy might throw at them. Defenders of the Faith makes them incredibly tenacious when guarding an objective, with foes needing to press through a storm of boltgun fire only to find the Battle Sisters shrugging off wounds that would lay any normal human low. Now, the leaders of your armies can take on one of these blessings and bathe the battlefield in divine light.

How They’ll Play

The big test for the list would likely be whether the warsuits held up, but fully supported as they are here I’m definitely interested in giving them a go! Wrap Up Morvenn Vahl also has the honour of being a High Lord of Terra – a lofty status granted to her upon the personal recommendation of Roboute Guilliman himself. As if that wasn’t enough of a ringing endorsement, Vahl is held in such high esteem by the Adeptus Custodes that they granted her stewardship of the fabled Lance of Illumination – a legendary blade with which she can sweep aside the unclean or pierce even the foulest hide with ease. In terms of what differentiates them, Penitents get another thing going for them – they now have inbuilt Advance/Charge, plus boosted pile-ins and consolidation so they can run amok once they arrive. On the Mortifier side, they can still take heavy bolters, giving them more ranged utility (though lose the ability to treat them as Assault weapons), can still upgrade a model to an Anchorite for an ablative 3+ save, and if they’re charged and killed before they swing, can fight before dying on a 4+. Right out of the gate, these aren’t front-line brawlers, and that was clear since the preview of their models. Her Auto-Tapestry of the Emperor’s Judgement is insanely strong, getting all 6 sacred rites active in a bubble once a game for a turn is extremely good. Recount the Deeds of the Saints is also a nice targetted re-roll for one unit allowing a hit, a wound, and a damage dice to be rerolled. Celestian Sacresants

Also for 1CP, you can use Light of the Emperor on a unit that is below Starting Strength, allowing it to ignore modifiers. Paired with the +1 to Hit from the Detachment ability, this is potentially really strong – though you’ll want the unit you use it on to still be combat-effective. In preparation for a series of grand crusades across the stars, the Adepta Sororitas have been cooking up all kinds of new and upgraded Stratagems to deploy on the battlefield. Here are a few of our absolute favourites. We were kinda hoping for two wounds because we are guessing the points cost for these will be fairly high. We do guess the shield will give them a decent invuln, so hopefully, they will be able to survive the shooting phase. Outside of these, it’s business as usual for Imperium weaponry, and the Sororitas unit upgrades have returned pretty much unchanged – Incensor Cherubs still give you a once-per-game unit specific Act of Faith, and the Simulacrum still lets a unit perform an extra Act (though you do now have to pay 5pts for Simulacra again). HQ Morvenn Vahl For more buff-focused choices, you have the Dialogus and the Dogmata. Re-badging the Dialogus as a Priest was an extremely smart move – she keeps her ability to alter a miracle dice used by a nearby unit up or down by one (and with no CORE limitation, is now actually better for protecting a Rhino than the Triumph is), but stapling Hymns of Battle (of which she knows War Hymn and one more) on top of that suddenly gives her real purpose. The Dogmata brings a heftier melee statline and a different set of buffs to the table, allowing nearby CORE units to shoot while performing an Action, and letting her grant one CORE unit a turn ObSec (or double counting if they already had it). That’s some spicy stuff, and she works extremely well with large Sister squads or Sacresants.Overall this is a surprisingly sweeping set of changes to a stratagem section that didn’t exactly feel like it was underperforming. If you’re set in the ways of 8th edition Sisters some of these will feel like real gut-punches, but it’s worth reading further into some formerly-neglected datasheets – for example, the Holy Rage changes aren’t as bad as they look, as the Repentia Superior can now grant both advance and charge and also 3d6 drop lowest for the charge roll with a Command phase ability. Of the absolutely new stratagems, Defenders of the Faith seems like a clear high point – one of the weaknesses of Sisters is their low Toughness, and being able to negate that is helpful for keeping them on the table. Warlord Traits How do you fight the feeding frenzy of the encroaching Tyranids ? With fire and faith! Thanks to their ironclad belief in the great and gracious God-Emperor, the devout warriors of the Adepta Sororitas perform literal miracles on the battlefield. The Battle Sisters are clad in the finest armour and bear the holy trinity of weapons – the bolter, the flamer, and the meltagun. As the God-Emperor guides their aim, their battle hymns reach a crescendo. Warlord traits, stratagems, relics, and a dedicated set of secondary objectives, as well as the new Blessings of the Faithful and Hymns of Battle Warhammer Community just unveiled a bunch of new rules for the Adepta Sororitas ahead of the upcoming codex. If you have been waiting with bated breath for the new book, you don’t have much longer to go now! Time To Purge With These Sacresant & Paragon Warsuit 40k Rules

Warhammer Community: Sisters of Battle: Beyond the Box (Posted November 13th 2019) (Last accessed 11/14/2019) Morvenn Vahl: The Abbess Sanctorum is here in person, and she is good, possibly to the extent that she actually oppresses all other HQ options and is too good. But you won’t care as she scythes down heretics left and right. With the right Miracle dice in reserve, even the most unlikely roll can become a surefire thing. Is it really an Act of Faith if, by definition, you know exactly what the result will be? The Sororitas certainly think so, and they have very big guns, so that’s good enough for us.
