Finally, just because an LED bulb emits a color that looks like natural daylight, does not mean that it has the same light spectrum as natural daylight. If you are looking for an LED light to perform color-critical tasks, or are looking for full spectrum lighting for a health-related application, you will need to look at the LED bulb's color rendering index (CRI) value to get a better sense of the spectral similarity. A high CRI value of 95 or higher typically ensures that the light spectrum does indeed replicate a natural light spectrum. Less than 2000K: gives off a dim glow of light, similar to what you might find from candlelight; best for low-light areas where ambient illumination is welcomed. However, if your living rooms contain more natural prominent colors, the cleaner and crisper 3000k light enhance the natural colors. gives off a soft white glow, often yellow in appearance; best for living rooms, dining rooms, bedrooms and outdoor spaces

Compared to a 2700K light, a 3000K light is slightly purer. Its color is a neutral white. There is less yellow or orange shade and it appears crisper. If you are familiar with halogen bulbs, the light color they emit is 3000K.You may, for example, choose to use 2700K LED bulbs for ambient lighting, and 3000K LED strip lights for an under-cabinet installation in the same area to illuminate a countertop, and the result would still have a quite cohesive look. So, if you use 2700K for your ambient lighting in the kitchen, you can still use your 3000K light in the same area for lights under the cabinets or as a countertop light. It will still give you a unified look.

Sourcing lighting for your project isn’t only about aesthetics. Lighting has a host of other considerations, including Kelvin color temperature, that must be understood when specifying everything from functional recessed lights to a statement chandelier. Here are the basics to understanding how color temperature affects lighting and the look of every room. What is Kelvin in lighting? The ambient lighting in a room is typically the main source of light and therefore a key element in setting the overall mood and ambience for a room. Warm white lighting fixtures are often preferred in living rooms and bedrooms to create a cozy atmosphere. The kelvin numbers offered for LED lights are typically 2700K and 3000K. These warm white lights are a good choice to compliment earthy tones and wood furniture. But some dislike the color of light emitted by an incandescent bulb. And many areas in your home would be better lighted with a high color temperature. Most of the people who dislike 2700K bulbs is because of its yellow or orange appearance. This manifestation makes things covered in yellow hue. 3000KIn general, the more red/orange the sky is (morning or afternoon light), the lower the color temperature, and the more blue the sky is (mid-day daylight, or windows facing away from the sun), the higher the color temperature. For example, you want to go for a more neutral temperature that doesn’t have as much yellow tones. You may think that as the color of the light is more neutral, it’ll do a better job of showing the proper colors of the illuminated area. When our eyes are used to a warm-white, residential color temperature of 3000K, the jump to 4000K represents a smaller 1000K difference. However as bathrooms have tile walls, the color of bathrooms tend to vary. Some bathrooms have neutral colors such as white, beige or other plain colors with light hues. For these kinds of finishes, a 2700k light would be most suitable as the ambience does not need additional lighting. Additionally, when it comes to outdoors, living rooms and kitchens, consider the prominent color present in those areas. If the color of the environment is neutral, you may want to use 2700k lights. What Is 3000K Best for?

Our conclusion is that 4000K may appear too yellow compared to natural daylight, but unlikely to appear too blue compared to incandescent or warm-white lighting, although this is ultimately a personal preference question. The right color temperature begins with the bulb. Use the Kelvin color temperature scale below to help identify the approximate hue certain bulbs will provide. Color Temperatures of Light Bulbs And this is the reason why choosing the best color temperature for specific applications is very important. 2700K or 3000K color temperature?Secondly, we emphasize the phrase "all else equal" (above), because it is important to keep in mind that there are other factors beyond just color temperature that affect the degree of blue light hazard. For example, the brightness and proximity of the light bulbs to your eyes, will very much affect the impact of the light sources, as will the duration of exposure and time of day that you are exposed to the light source. Finally, for industrial or color-critical applications, we recommend 5000K (D50) or 6500K (D65) options instead. That is because 4000K provides a yellower color balance compared to natural daylight color temperatures.

You will note that the difference between the two is only 300 degrees. It can be difficult to explain the difference qualitatively. Some people can perceive this difference but others barely. The difference varies for different people. And if you are choosing between these two, the best way to really know the best lighting is to see the lights in person. Less than 2000K: gives off a dim glow of light, similar to what you might find from candlelight; best for low-light areas where ambient illumination is welcomed, The cleaner and crisper 3000k light are best for areas where you need to be productive and maintain a high energy. As a result, areas such as kitchens, home office, study rooms, etc., would be best suited with a 3000k light.

E26 vs E27 Bulbs - Interchangeable? Not Necessarily!

But because it is a mid-point color temperature, the differences are not very stark either way. Since it is neither too far from residential warm-white colors nor natural daylight white, 4000K can be a very effective color temperature choice.
