I hate the concept. I'd wanted to love it, because in the past I've been a fairly genderist person myself (something I'm ashamed of, to be honest with you) but the truth is that I wasn't thrilled with the fact that this novel uses gender in such a binary way. I want to say that this would have been more appealing if the title had been different, but I'm not sure that's the case, either. It won't surprise you that many of the most popular adult games share similar issues to regular mainstream Tube porn - aggressive heternormativity and a near-exclusive catering to a cis, male gaze. Still, the world of adult sex games is far more expansive, diverse, and varied than people think. And, finding the right erotic game for you can help open you up to new aspects of your sexuality you'd never thought about before. Bella Forrest is a published author of fiction. She says her life being a writer truly first started at the age of five. That is when she would be under the table in the kitchen making picture books. Gender, orientation, inclusivity, pairings, kinks, fetishes: The game caters to heterosexual cis men, limiting players to a male-presenting silhouette whose body type you can customize. Sexual acts are left up to your choice, and range from the vanilla to the kinky. The characters were okay. Violet was all right but I found her too stereotypical to be particularly interesting. Especially towards the end, it became more like the author living her fantasy in this character. She had a temper I liked but was too boring as a Triss-cum-Katniss clone (with less of a clue about what she was doing).

In this curious story about the split between the genders, we see a dystopian world where the countries of Matrus and Patrus are split by a toxic river. Patrus is a Patriarchy, where women have no rights and belong to their husband. They are little better than pets and are treated as such. In Matrus, we have the Matriarchy. Women are the ruling class, allowing few men to live in their midst. They tolerate little violence and even test young boys that are born to screen them for 'undesirable' male traits, such as aggression and dominance. Dungeon Tail, recommended by Valens as a "very high-quality furry visual novel about furry adventurers trying to complete a dungeon exploration exam... and having a lot of sex with each other along the way. It's animated and the sex scenes are A+." Everything about the patriarchy is dangerous for a rebellious girl like Violet. She cannot break the rules if she wishes to stay alive. Can she find her brother and make sure that he is okay, or is it a forever lost cause? You are going to have to read the first book in the Gender Games series to find out! Gender, orientation, inclusivity, pairings, kinks, fetishes: Gender presentation, queer identity, and BDSM are at the heart of this lesbian-centered story. Characters are often not defined by a set-in-stone gender binary or sexual orientation, though, instead given intricate graphs detailing their proclivity for (among other things) crossdressing, lies, social status, and sluttiness. Content warnings include rope bondage, impact play, humiliation, and transactional sex.Source: I received a digital copy of this book for free on a read-to-review basis. Thanks to NightLight Press and NetGalley.) The Gender Game is Bella Forrest’s latest release and is an absolutely brilliant and addictive dystopian read that will lure readers with its intense, intriguing world, strong protagonist and promising romance!

I wasn't sure what to expect from this book, but I really enjoyed it. Don't expect a really deep look at gender issues, as this is more a light teen book. But that said I whizzed through it and found myself bummed when it ended. I feel strongly that Ms. Forrest took some of the best of the well-known and much-beloved dystopian novels most of us have read and wound them into an exciting novel. There are certainly shades of The Giver, along with elements from Divergent, and even Matched. If you enjoyed these books, I believe that you will enjoy The Gender Game as well. Surely if you enjoyed The Gender Game, you need to read these better-known and mass-published books, because you will get a great deal out of them.

No Thank You!! recommended by James for catering to the gay male gaze and yaoi lovers, a genre of fiction popularized in Japan focused on homoerotic relationships that many heterosexual women enjoy. I was indifferent to Lee and Viggo, but it’s obvious which character you are suppose to like, even when that came true, I was still indifferent. I guess I was interested more in the storyline. Violet is our protagonist in this tale and she is tough as friggin' nails. She is essentially a juvenile delinquent when we start the book, but she isn't a delinquent in the worst of terms. This girl defends herself and those that she likes. In a country where violence is looked down on, Violet is definitely in trouble, seeing as she loves a good brawl. Her aggressively protective and defensive tendencies have landed her in the 'system' after the original incident of her trying to save her brother from the mines and then for defending herself with a 'weapon'. This a story about a world where two countries are split by a river. On one side we have Matrus, on the other we have Patrus. Matrus is ruled by woman. Patrus is ruled by men..See now why I was hesitant
