Description

A collection of newly written side stories depicting the past and present of two people who are attracted to each other and the times that surround them. Art: Project No. 9 has a long history of providing good, consistent animation, and that remains true here. This includes the more calmer times between our main couple. Their portrayal of Mahiru's angel status feels like it's only indirectly hinted at, rather than shown, which is curious considering it's part of the series' name, but that didn't bug me too much. (8/10) The girl is wearing the same uniform as Amane’s school. Her flaxen, straight, and lustrous hair. Her caramel colored eyes. It’s none other than the school’s “Angel”, Shiina Mahiru. Not only is she a star athlete with perfect grades, she’s also drop-dead gorgeous. Truly, she seems like an angel who have fallen from the sky. Amane has decided to put further questions down as it’s apparent that Mahiru is putting guard on him and wanting to be left alone. He initially wanted to leave her as she wish but he just stood there instead. A moment later, he decided to put the umbrella near Mahiru and give it to her. November 18, 2019). お隣の天使様コミカライズ&続刊決定! I have finished reading the latest volume and I will say that this is such a great read and easily one of my favorite light novels. From wholesomeness and sweetness alone, this is the best. I have seen other works with similar settings and intention but they don't come close with this one. Mateo, Alex (January 4, 2023). At the end of summer vacation, the school had a slightly buoyant atmosphere—the cultural festival was closing in.Amane lives alone in an apartment, and the most beautiful girl in school, Mahiru, lives just next door. They've almost never spoken–until the day he sees her in distress on a rainy day and lends her his umbrella. To return the favor, she offers him help around the house, and a relationship slowly begins to blossom as the distance between them closes... If you came here looking for something ground breaking or something never done before. You'll be sorely disappointed. This is not what this light novel is about. There's nothing new here that hasn't been done before. The light novel ranked tenth in Takarajimasha's annual light novel guide book Kono Light Novel ga Sugoi! in the bunkobon category, and sixth overall among the other new series in 2020. The series has sold one hundred thousand copies by April 2020. [42] As the end of summer draws closer, the two of them went out to the summer festival clad in their yukatas. Little by little, Amane and Mahiru began to openly and honestly express their feelings, and their summer memories deepened...

With Mothers Day approaching Mahiru questions why he won’t even return home to see his mother. Amane finally explains; in Junior High he had three friends he realised were manipulating him for his money. He lost his ability to trust even his other friends and switched schools. Mahiru promises he can always depend on her when he’s upset. A rumour spreads at school Mahiru went on a date with a guy, which Mahiru confirms was the most important person in her life. She later insists this is true to Amane; she has no feelings for her parents so all she has are friends, of which Amane is her most treasured. Amane feels a compulsion to improve his appearance and starts exercising. Amane dreams of having sex with Mahiru, making him act strangely towards her. Mahiru is upset until Amane explains about his embarrassing dream, which Amane finds funny. With exams approaching Mahiru promises Amane if he scores in the top ten he can lie with his head in her lap again. She also reveals she loves taking care of him. Her use of the word “love” is almost too much for Amane to handle. As I write this review, the more I think that this novel isn’t really “special” or ground-breaking for it to have an objectively 10/10 score and claim it as one of the timeless masterpiece. But I will give it a 10/10 anyway since I feel super comfortable and I genuinely had a great time reading this novel. And thus, it is indeed special for me. The deepest and most thorough description of Mahiru's history, who she is as a person, and how she fits into the relationship with Amane, comes from the LN Volume 5.5, Chapter 6 - "Childhood Anxieties, and Reassurance in the Present". Trigger warning, it goes through the darkest parts of her childhood trauma, which shaped her into the person she is today, and it gets very painful before she falls asleep on the couch crying over it, and awakes in the arms of the love of her life. It is a hard read, but intensely beautiful, and this very real and honest treatment of their troubled lives, while showing a truly satisfying and tenderly adorable happy turn of events for it, is absolutely one of the reasons I love the series. This is a phenomenally true to life portrayal of the kind of PTSD a person can end up with, when having been the victim of an abusive childhood, and as much as it is painful to see someone going through pain I have felt myself in my real life, it makes me all the more happy for her, that she HAS found someone who will love her completely and truly. And Amane's response to all of this is absolutely perfect. It is quite the highlight of an already great series. An offical manga, announced on November 18th, 2019, is now published by Square Enix's online manga magazine Manga UP! Two manga tankobon volumes have been released in Japanese. No English translation for the manga has been announced yet. There is a small park near his apartment. Around the time he walks home from school, there will usually be a handful of family spending their afternoon time together. A peaceful scene for one to look at, indeed. Today is raining, so he didn’t expect there will be a family crazy enough to play under such rain. Yes, only people with a loose screw on their head will visit the park in this weather. And there is actually such people, a girl in fact, who sits on top of one of the swinging chair, alone, without an umbrella covering her drenched body. Her sorrowful face under the rain tells him that she wants the rain to wash over the sadness she’s currently feeling at the moment. The story is heavily influenced with so many Japanese drama and manga that revolves around in a pure relationship of destined fate of romance. Everything about this show is a whole bunch of predictable here and there. For an icing in the cake, they added a very common tropes that we all had known very long ago, there are no single uncommon tropes here except the fact that the heroine know exactly where our main protagonist house is despite the fact that they talk less in the first episode, which is weird. Now, I’m an avid enjoyer of a show and never read of their LN’s or Mangas. So probably she did something before that’s why he knows his house, but whatever this is the small detail that I just cant help to point out. Also the kind of tropes “ohh, she lives near me, coincidently”. You can’t count how many times this trope has already exist, even the latest, long lasting (boring) anime with three season about rent a girlfriend has this kind of tropes already. But we’re not going to discuss about that. The only good thing came in this show is that it doesn’t have any kind of bullshit harems (which I purely respect, because I love how there’s no love is war stuff). Well, of course there have to be the downside of it, because the nature of this show, there has to be an influence between the third party (or themselves), so they can “naturally” progress through the story. Well its nothing bad, its just super common that I grew bored of it, probably because of the execution, it forgets me about this part. Well despite of that, the story is actually chill and gives off a really natural vibe of romance about “looking at someone without judging them from their looks” pretty ironic that their looks is actually the “prince and princesses” tropes. What if their looks was actually “beauty and the beast”. Then it would be a different story. I personally don’t particularly like a wish fulfillment story. Although it may sound contradictory as fictions are mostly written to create an unfulfilled reality, but please bear with me. In this novel’s case, the readers might seek an escape and hope to have a one-in-millionth fateful encounters with a certain amazing person who will pull them out of their misery. Surprised by a sudden approach from her neighbor, she puts her guard up and replies.
