Semyon Bychkov’s newly released Mahler 1 with the Czech Philharmonic is a superb recording coupled to one of the best readings I’ve heard. The M2si and RP-600M II laid it all out in front of me in a huge soundstage. The music was expansive, explosive, stirring; goosebumps abounded. As with the best systems, analysis fell by the wayside as the music gripped me. Early Reflections Directivity Index (EPDI): is defined as the difference between the listening window curve and the early reflections curve. In small rooms, early reflections figure prominently in what is measured and heard in the room so this curve may provide insights into potential sound quality. Sound Power represents all of the sounds arriving at the listening position after any number of reflections from any direction. It is the weighted rms average of all 70 measurements, with individual measurements weighted according to the portion of the spherical surface that they represent. On the bottom, the 600M II eschews the standard rubber bumpers for large cork pads, and they work well to prevent slipping. The cork did a great job securing the speakers on my metal stands, but I did use my customary anti-slip mats on top of the stands as well.

As I plugged in the ACA mini, I wondered: How much less wonderful will the experience of a similarly powered but 30-times-less-expensive amp be? The best thing about expensive tube amplifiers is, if you've never used one you won't know what you're missing. Your screechy schoolmarm amp will seem just perfect—until you've been embraced by something more voluptuous. The treble is where the RP-600M II will go off the reservation for some people. The newly designed wave guide has created a top end that is definitely brighter sounding, but also more refined and detailed. The below graphic indicates just how much SPL is lost (compression) or gained (enhancement; usually due to distortion) when the speaker is played at higher output volumes instantly via a 2.7 second logarithmic sine sweep referenced to 76dB at 1 meter. The signals are played consecutively without any additional stimulus applied. Then normalized against the 76dB result.Listening to big timpani strikes, it was clear that the RP-600M II have greater authority and definition down into the 40Hz range and certainly more texture. Movies benefitted from the additional bass response and I turned the television off for the night thinking that a subwoofer might not be necessary in every scenario with these loudspeakers.

Featuring audiophile-grade wire and easily accessible aluminum binding posts for any connection type. The Marantz PM6007 provides the best sound quality in its class and is capable of delivering 2 x 45W (8 ohms RMS, 20Hz - 20kHz), making it compatible with drive Klipsch RP-600M speakers. With independent volume and power controls, the Marantz PM6007 also includes a 3.5mm input to connect Android phones and laptops. The PM6007 is meticulously and masterfully tuned and comes with a high-quality DAC AK4490 for a cleaner sound. That said, fit and finish are excellent, and they bring music alive like no other speaker I’ve heard at the price point. Their enthusiasm and clarity play well will any genre. Also, If you loved the first 600M, you definitely owe it to yourself to hear the sequel. They take a winning formula to the next level. With its 6.5 inch, copper-spun Cerametallic cone and larger cabinet, the RP-600M II speakers have a convincing way with bass. Given their size, the RP-600M II speakers reach deep down into the bass spectrum, for bass with oomph. As well as class-leading bass depth, the rigid cones deliver a tight and punchy bass that keeps you on the edge of your seat. As far as the tweeter goes, it’s still pretty much the same LTS (Linear Travel Suspension) design as the first 600M, again using a Titanium diaphragm and vented housing for enhanced detail and clarity on the top end. The product is returned in original condition (with brand’s/manufacturer's box, MRP tag intact, user

Our review of the original RP-600M was read more than 100,000 times so it is fair to say that both audiophiles and mainstream consumers have shifted their priorities somewhat.

In theory, with complete 360-degree anechoic data on a loudspeaker and sufficient acoustical and geometrical data on the listening room and its layout it would be possible to estimate with good precision what would be measured by an omnidirectional microphone located in the listening area of that room. By making some simplifying assumptions about the listening space, the data set described above permits a usefully accurate preview of how a given loudspeaker might perform in a typical domestic listening room. Obviously, there are no guarantees, because individual rooms can be acoustically aberrant. Sometimes rooms are excessively reflective (“live”) as happens in certain hot, humid climates, with certain styles of interior décor and in under-furnished rooms. Sometimes rooms are excessively “dead” as in other styles of décor and in some custom home theaters where acoustical treatment has been used excessively. This form of post processing is offered only as an estimate of what might happen in a domestic living space with carpet on the floor and a “normal” amount of seating, drapes and cabinetry. It’s much the same story for the tweeter, where the new 600M proved to be surprisingly flat, but best of all, not the least bit fatiguing. While the speaker’s tweeter may be titanium it doesn’t ring or have that metallic sheen to its highs that you get with the 600 Anniversary Series from B&W. The V2s Highs are airy and extended but they simply do not shout at you nor do they become sharp at high volumes the way some metal dome tweeters can. If anything, at the absolute extremes –think anything above 14kHz – they’re more reserved or rolled off, trading the potential for shrill and fatiguing for breathy. While this speaker hits the highest of highs, it doesn’t do so with the same energy as the Sonus Faber Lumina IIs or the Monitor Audio Silvers, meaning, of the three, the Klipsch pairs a little better across a wider range of music genres, which is something I don’t believe I’ve said about any Klipsch speaker…ever! KLIPSCH RP-600MII SOUNDSTAGE PERFORMANCE Like the original 600M, the new MKII needs some room to breathe, especially with such a large port in the rear. To that end, I placed the speakers on my 24” metal stands about three feet away from the front and side walls. The mid bass performance of the RP-600M II was rather different as well; bass notes had greater definition, impact, and there was a lot more detail this time around. We combined Spinorama data with room acoustics and came up with Soundton. A very simple, 2D online tool that allows you to:
