As we prepare for the release of her epic memoir Shameless : The Naked Truth (out in March 2024), Yanique revealed her truth publicly today and released herself to walk without shame. Our aim is to make Ramadan Radio self-sustainable and provide opportunities for members of our community to take part in making local radio, to encourage and promote a voice for those who are under-represented or socially excluded, to provide an outlet for creativity, shared vision and expression for everyone in our local communities.

After training she planned to rejoin her family, who by this time had migrated to New York City. Instead, she met and married her husband and they had two beautiful children, Symone who is Artistic Director of Genesis and Kevin who is an Actor. Allyson chose to practice in midwifery, as she felt it was a great honour and privilege to bring life into the world. She enjoyed a rewarding and enriching career, both in clinical and managerial roles. She lectured extensively, wrote many professional articles, studied up to Masters degree level and became a popular and knowledgeable advocate for women. In 2002, she was awarded an MBE from the Queen for her “outstanding contribution to the development of the midwifery services for women in London”. Pete noted something special, if not quite fully formed. Since that time we’ve followed Chantel (suitably distanced of course) and she’s matured into an artist of real substance.
