Description

Ottilian äiti lähettää tyttärelleen postikortteja matkoilta. Ne päättyvät aina P.S. merkintään, missä äiti antaa Ottilialle tai Mauri-herralle ajankohtaisia vinkkejä mm. asunnon siivoamisesta. Jälkikirjoitusten perusteella hän tuntuu tietävän koko ajan, mitä Ottilia puuhailee, vaikka onkin toisella puolella maailmaa. Ottilia on valepukujen valtiatar, josta hänellä on Puijausopiston todistus. Valepuvuista onkin hyötyä, sillä kaupungissa tapahtuu jotain outoa: sylikoiria katoaa ja rikkaiden rouvien koruja varastetaan. Ottilia päättää selvittää, mikä on rikosaallon takana, apunaan luotettava ystävänsä Mauri-herra. Walking home, Ottoline and Mr. Munroe stop at 4th Street books. There they meet another girl who looks remarkably akin to Ottoline. The girl, named Myrrh Treesister, has a hairy friend named Miss Macintosh who is the spitting image of Mr. Munroe. Ottoline decides to invite Myrrh to a dinner party that she is hosting next evening. Chris has been honoured with an OBE in recognition of his illustration and charity work.Chris lives in Brighton with his family.

This book isn't so much about Ottoline living alone. Instead, it's a mystery. The local wealthy adults are being robbed and the police are without any tangible leads. The only clue is the fact that their recently adopted dogs have also gone missing.I needed something light with which to start off my morning and Ottoline Goes to School, the 2nd Ottoline YA story, by Chris Riddell was perfect. Ottoline lives in The City, basically on her own, cared for by her companion Mr. Munroe, while her parents are off exploring. She is cared for by a group of people, food preparers, door knob shiners, pillow plumpers, etc. She lives in the Pepperpot building, called thusly because it looks like a pepperpot. Ottoline lives in a stylish apartment in Big City with a small hairy creature called Mr Munroe. Together they look after the Brown family’s eclectic collections – and dabble in a spot of detective work. So they are the first to the scene of the crime when a string of high-society dog-nappings and jewel thefts hits Big City.

This, the second of the Ottoline series, is a delight. Ottoline is off to the Alice. B. Smith School For The Differently Gifted; a boarding school for children with a special an often quite peculiar gift. As she's trying to figure out what her gift might be, a ghost starts to haunt the school...I was attracted to Chris Riddell's work mainly because of the fascinating illustrations he did for Neil Gaiman. To my delight, I discovered the Ottoline series and this is the first installment I read (and also the 3rd book in the series, I just found out). When Ottoline realises that Mr Munroe has left, she becomes very upset, and determines to go and find him, along with her assistant, the bear. Their adventure includes trips on a submarine, a seaplane and a Polynesian raft. The book is filled with countless adventures with a surprising ending. En este, ¡incluso tenemos binoculares para mirar cosas ocultas en las ilustraciones de las páginas! Ottoline and the Yellow Cat is a 2007 children's book by Chris Riddell. It won the Nestlé Children's Book Prize Gold Award [1] and the Red House Children's Book Award for Younger Readers. [2] It was also shortlisted for the Kate Greenaway Medal and nominated for the Carnegie Medal. [3] Characters [ edit ]

In Ottoline and the Purple Fox, Ottoline meets a fox that is colored purple. He lives hidden in garbage bin #34. The Purple Fox (at the end of the book we learn that his real name is Peregrine) explains to Ottoline that there is actually a lot of wildlife living in the city. He offers to take Ottoline and Mr. Munroe on an Urban Safari if they will meet him on the corner at midnight. Intrigued, Ottoline accepts and promises to meet him there. We meet 2 Foxes, a girl who looks like Ottoline (and even has a hairy friend just like Ottoline has), it was just a delight. I was a bit looking forward to some sort of twist though as to why the girl was so similar to Ottoline. But nothing really happens with it, the only thing that happens is that they are both amazed, and keep saying the same sentence. Ottoline lives in a stylish apartment in Big City with a small hairy creature called Mr Munroe. Together they look after the Brown family's eclectic collections - and dabble in a spot of detective work. So they are the first to the scene of the crime when a string of high-society dog-nappings and jewel thefts hits Big City. Introducing Miss Ottoline Brown, an exceptionally inquisitive Mistress of Disguise, and her partner in crime, Mr Munroe. Ottoline and the Yellow Cat is a quirky mystery-adventure from Chris Riddell, author of the award-winning Goth Girl books.

Reviews

This being a children's story, Ottoline meets helpful allies at every turn. She rides in a submarine. On a sea plane. On a raft called the Kon-Leekki, captained by Thør Thørrensen. Along the way, Ottoline's adventure includes hunting for mermaids (which turn out to manatees), meeting the Polar Bear Shoe Company, and visiting with Ringo and George (two green-nosed trolls who live in Norwegian Wood). There is nothing in this book to frighten young children, the Quite Big Foot turns out to be friendly and mischaracterized. One day, Ottoline’s parents travel to Norway on the hunt to find ‘Quite Big Foot’, the Abominable Troll of Trondheim. Coincidently, Mr Munroe comes across a pair of ‘bog goggles’ in Ottoline’s parents’ collection, which enable him to see clues about Quite Big Foot. Captivated by the images, Mr Munroe tries to draw Ottoline’s attention to his discoveries, but she ignores him. So he decides to go and find Quite Big Foot by himself, leaving a message to Ottoline in string, spelling the word ‘Norway’. But before she finds out, we are introduced to a new character, a bear from Canada, who is taking a holiday in the apartment basement rather than hibernating. He is to become Ottoline’s assistant in her forthcoming adventure.
