Warhammer Community revealed the points but not much else this time around which is strange for them. However, with these and the other rules released, this should allow you to use him in your games before the codex drops next year. So, let’s first look at all the Custodes rules we’ve seen then, jump into the points! Adeptus Custodes Codex Rules Rumors

Each time the model would lose a wound as a result of a mortal wound, roll one D6: on a 6, that wound is not lost.The rest of the options are decent, but nothing too flashy. Aquilan Shield: Adeptus Custodes Shield Host Rules At the start of the battle, each objective marker on the battlefield is said to be contested, and so is not controlled by either player. To control an objective marker, a player will first need to move models within range of it. A model is within range of an objective marker if it is within 3" horizontally and 5" vertically of that objective marker. Aquilan Shield gets access to a super unique trait in their Gilded Guardians fighting style. We saw rumors about the entire army being able to Heroically Intervene, but this is pretty close so we’ll give the rumor a thumbs up. Then they gain some decent defense against small arms fire. You cannot select a stance more than once; you must select a primary ka’tah’s stance first; you cannot select a tertiary ka’tah’s stance until you have selected a secondary ka’tah’s stance; you cannot select a stance from a ka’tah used earlier in the battle.

Martial Ka’tah: An ability that Adeptus Custodes models have, and can use if every model in your army has the ADEPTUS CUSTODES keyword (excluding models with the ANATHEMA PSYKANA, AGENT OF THE IMPERIUM or UNALIGNED keywords), and every unit that is assigned to a shield host is assigned to the same shield host. Where many amongst the Adeptus Custodes hold themselves remote and aloof from the lesser mortals around them, this warlord’s booming oratory and inspirational rhetoric are meant for the ears and hearts of all loyal Imperial servants. When you include a unit with the < SHIELD HOST> keyword, nominate which shield host it is assigned to. In addition to revamped Stratagems, Relics, and Warlord Traits, the codex contains Crusade rules for exercising ultimate authority over the Imperium, choosing your own objectives and earning powerful bonuses upon victory. Beware, however, as failure means suffering dishonour, which can call the command of your Shield-Captain into question.

Battle Scars

At the end of a battle, if you have completed the active imperative, remove that imperative from your Crusade Goals. The next imperative you determined is now active for subsequent battles. Once you have completed all of your endeavour’s imperatives, you can claim an Endeavour Reward, and can then claim Magisterium Lex Ultima once more. At the end of the battle, if you control the objective marker that you must secure for the Dark Cells, you can select one ADEPTUS CUSTODES unit from your army that can control objective markers and is in range of that objective marker to gain 2 experience points. This device brings light to the most impenetrable of darknesses, its magnificent gleam so bright that it can strike down foes. EMISSARIES IMPERATUS model only.

Vigilators on the other hand had their Executioner Greatblade changed to flat 2 damage (was d3) and once again lost Psyk-out grenades.

Captain-Commanders

This WARLORD has the following ability: ‘ Voice of the Emperor (Aura): While a friendly ADEPTUS CUSTODES or ANATHEMA PSYKANA unit is within 9" of this model, add 1 to the Leadership characteristic of models in that unit.’ Looks like the rumors were true! Custodes have been itching for some love, and will finally receive it! On the stream, this model was compared to a Lieutenant, so expect to see some abilities to reflect a decent leader. ADEPTUS CUSTODES Detachment: A Detachment in a Battle-forged army where every model has the ADEPTUS CUSTODES keyword (excluding models with the ANATHEMA PSYKANA, AGENT OF THE IMPERIUM or UNALIGNED keywords).

Closing out Custodes, there are 3 more options and Wrath Angels looks great for some free mortals on objectives, of course, if the opponent dodges it, then it still works as battlefield manipulation. It’s a win-win! Shield Hosts will be familiar to fans of Adeptus Custodes, but they’ve had upgrades befitting these golden demigods of destruction for the latest edition. There are six in total, including favourites like the Solar Watch, and each has access to unique fighting styles, warlord traits, stratagems, and relics of Terra. Instant. The unit that destroyed the enemy WARLORD in the battle in which you completed this imperative gains a Battle Honour. If no friendly units achieved this, claim the reward from the Mortalis imperative instead.What’s more, the ranged profile of the sentinel blade has been improved to match the damage output of the guardian spears – after all, they fire the same masterwork ammunition. All that and we didn’t even mention that the Blade Champion has a Leadership characteristic of 11. That’s a statement of adamantium willpower and determination if ever there were one. Being able to use rules like this on both a character like a Shield-Captain, and Adeptus Custodes core unit make this possibly quite strong. We’ll have to see how the other characters can really benefit from this. The Adeptus Custodes are the guardians of the Imperial Palace and the Golden Throne, as well as being the personal bodyguard to the Emperor. Due to the vast size of the Imperial Palace, the Custodes have almost always acted as a defensive army. Alongside the Sisters of Silence they represented the Talons of the Emperor being the right hand of the Emperor.
