Description

I then opened all of the thermostatic valves on all 7 radiators, turned on the boiler by the mains and turned the temperature up to 25 degrees by the thermostat

Continues bleeding the radiators downstairs, starting with the closet to the boiler until no water or sound could be heard

I'm not sure if I should be draining it out tonight, (as I had planned), as that is 24hrs rather than the single hour they 'quote', or if leaving it in longer is beneficial? Sometimes a more general clean is required, aimed at removing iron oxide and limescale deposits from pipework, heat exchangers and radiators. X800 Fast Acting Cleaner is ideal for these purposes, designed for use in conjunction with powerflushing equipment, but also proving a highly effective cleaner when manually flushed, too. It is effective both hot and cold. When might I need Deposit Remover? Last night I drained 'some' water and added X800 (so it is just plain water and X800 in there at the moment). How does it work? Contains a specialised dispersant to penetrate and lift sludge. Holds sludge in suspension ready for flushing.

If an open system you will have a small (4 gallon) tank in the loft. Turn off the boiler and water feed to the tank. Remove all the water (which is likely to be filthy) from the small (Feed and Expansion F&E)) tank. Drain some more water from the system (3 or 4 litres) and add the chemical to the tank. Turn on the water feed and let the tank fill until it stops normally. Turn on the boiler, and run the system. After a suitable period (max. 4 weeks for X400, say a day for X800) drain the system, refill and repeat two or three times. It is recommended to use the Sentinel – X800 at least once a year for optimal system maintenance. However, the frequency may vary depending on the specific needs of your central heating system. For large or heavily fouled commercial systems, the cleaning period may have to be extended and the cleaning temperature elevated. Recommended dosage: Ideal for pre-dosing, 1 litre of X400 is sufficient to treat a typical domestic system of up to 10 radiators. Circulate from 2 hours to 3 or 4 weeks depending on system fouling.A constant flow of water kept on coming out of the radiator that is the closet to the drain valve which confuses me as no more water is coming out of the external and only drain valve X300 Cleaner for New Systems is designed to target excess flux residues, greases, and oils in addition to installation debris and sludge. Not only this, but X300 passivates the metal surfaces and helps to prevent copper deposition, a common cause of pinhole corrosion in radiators. Ideally, the product should be added at the first filling of the system. The water should then be circulated at normal operating temperatures for 2 hours before being flushed out. If you are using cold water, leave to circulate for 24 hours. Powerflushing is not necessary when using this product. The system I’m dealing with is not new, but is less than 6 months old Sealed Systems: If the system is empty, add to any convenient point before filling. If full, use a Sentinel Dosing Vessel to inject via the filling loop or other access point. Ideally, on the return pipe leading to a boiler. This is to stop debris entering the boiler and damaging it. How does it work? Acts as an emulsifier for oils and greases and a dispersant to lift and suspend particulate debris. Holds contamination in suspension ready for flushing.

Its formulation also contains agents to ensure the protection of system metals against corrosion during the cleaning as well as preparing the installation for the addition of Sentinel X100 Inhibitor. To clean an older system in accordance with BS 7593, this product should be circulated (preferably at normal operating temperature, with all valves open and the pump turned to maximum flow) for a minimum period of 2 hours or until satisfactory performance is restored. Use in conjunction with a powerflushing device to achieve a more rapid clean. I read online that I should have open the bleed valves a bit whilst draining the system. So with this new information I started bleeding the radiators downstairs starting with the one closet to the boiler, which caused more water to come out of the drain valve I located the drain valve just outside the property and opened it to drain the central heating system - left it for about an hour After cleaning, the system should be drained and flushed until the water runs clear. On refilling, the system should be treated with Sentinel X100 Inhibitor or Sentinel X500 Inhibited Antifreeze.

Circulating debris in central heating systems can cause wear and premature failure of pumps, valves and heat exchangers. Sentinel's filters are the perfect filter solution to protect the system against magnetic debris. For details of how to dose using the Rapid-Dose format of this product, please watch the Rapid-Dose video. Recommended dosage: 1 litre of X300 is sufficient to treat a typical domestic system of up to 10 radiators. Circulate from 1 hour to 7 days for maximum performance. Not sure what cleaner is best for the job? We’ve created a handy cleaner comparison to help you choose the right cleaner for your system. Vortex250 units feature an integrated isolation valve, a voiding the need for a strip down service; and a front-facing magnet, ensuring that where space is at a premium, no further space is required as the magnet can simply be removed at the front.I bled the towel radiator in the bathtroom and then siphoned some water out so I could pour in 1L of Sentinel X800 litre, 1 300ml aerosol or 1 275ml tube of Sentinel X400 High Performance Cleaner is sufficient to treat a typical domestic system of up to 10 radiators. Larger systems should be dosed with twice this amount. Sentinel X800 Fast Acting Cleaner eliminates magnetite and limescale deposits from heat exchangers, radiators, underflor heating floors and pipework. It restores more uniform distribution of heat in existing installations, for a better heated home and reduced energy bills.
