Lightwave’s beauty is that it doesn’t expect you to change the way you normally do things. So, walk into a room and you can tap a light switch to have it come on, or hold down the buttons to increase or dim the lights. It’s great to have this level of control, since it’s often easier to turn a light on manually than to use an app. We always recommend wiring as one way due to the fact that 1 wired dimmer minimum load is 10W,if you have another dimmer controlling the same light using 3 core then the minimum load will be increased to 20w. My advice is to see how your lights perform and, if you have any issues, replace your bulbs with branded models. Wired like a conventional dimmer switch, Lightwave smart switches can be used as a retrofit solution to replace existing switches or dimmers. With advanced dimming control, you can fine tune the dimming performance on the App to get the best possible dimming results for LED lamps and integrated LED downlights. Better hardware and a cleaner app make the Generation 2 kit interesting, particularly if you want to use Apple Home. I like the wider LED bulb support, too.

For GU10 LEDs we recommend the Aurora Ice 5W GU10 LED or Philips branded GU10 LED lamps. For integrated LED downlights go for the Aurora MPRO. Wireless smart switches that can be positioned anywhere. Ideal for installations where a cable can't be run Wired (230V) Lightwave smart switches can be used as a retrofit solution to replace existing switches or dimmers. Smart switches work in a similar way to traditional dimmer switches and can be used to dim various types of lights including LED lamps and integrated LED downlights. Smart Series has considerably more functionality than Connect (formally known as Gen1) each smart switch can be programmed to dim either as a master or as a slave. This provides 2 way switching or dimming. Instead of needing a slave dimmer, can do 2 way or even 3 way dimming which means you can dim the same lighting circuit from 2 or more switches (or locations from the room). The unwired channels on the dimmer will just go from RED to BLUE but not do anything until automated. The spare channels on all of our dimmers can then be programmed to be wireless 2way switches by using the two way switching automation.

At the first switch, move all wires fitted to L1 to the L terminal on the Lightwave switch. Move all wires fitted to L2 to the X terminal on the Lightwave switch. Move all wires fitted to C to the L terminal on the Lightwave switch. Philips Hue arguably offers greater choice for lighting options, but the downside is that its accessories and switches don’t look as good. If you want a high-end installation and are happy controlling normal lights, Lightwave Generation 2 is a great system. For both switches, move all wires fitted to the L1 to the L terminal on the Lightwave switch. Move all wires fitted to the L2 to the X terminal on the Lightwave switch. Wires in the C terminal are not required and can be safely terminated or removed altogether. Three-wire systemUser-Friendly Installation: Lightwave products are designed with DIY installation in mind. However, for those who prefer a professional touch, a network of certified installers is available to assist. The maximum load per gang must not exceed 200W for a circuit with dimmable LED lamps or 100W for a circuit with a driver. Dimmable: Yes suitable for dimming LED lights. For GU10 LEDs we recommend the Aurora Ice 5W GU10 LEDand for integrated LED downlights go for the Aurora MPRO. If you’re not comfortable doing this yourself then please consult a qualified electrician. Before you start

Voltage: Mains 230V wires directly into your lighting circuit just like an ordinary dimmer or light switch Installation of the smart switch is a DIY job, but it’s once you’ve connected your switch to the Lightwave app that the real fun begins. Create ‘scenes’ – personalised lighting configurations to match the mood you’re in, or the activities you have planned for the evening. A mix of blues and greens might be great for yoga, perhaps, whereas yellow might be your colour for reading. A rosy pink hue… we’ll leave that one up to you. If you are in a scenario where you do not have neutral wires and you are connecting a 1gang to another 1gang dimmer then please see the below video : Smart sensor - automatically switch your devices off when the room is vacated and on when its occupied The beauty of Lightwave is its versatility. Whether you're a tech-savvy enthusiast looking for an advanced home automation setup or a homeowner simply aiming for more convenience and control, Lightwave offers solutions tailored to every need. With 2 way communication, the App always knows if a device has been manually activated or deactivated. When my wife had mobility problems in the house, I added the infrared sensors and all the hallway lights were activated by them - didn't use the switches at all. For 2-way or multiway switching, we would ALWAYS recommend wiring as "1 way" and programming the other dimmers in different locations of the house to perform switching wirelessly - so no 3 core wiring needs to be attached between the dimmers.

Generation 1 devices appear in the app, but their state can’t be read. Instead, it displays the last setting you used through the app – although this could be wrong. For example, the app showed that my Lounge light was set to 49% when it had been manually turned off using its physical buttons. and a "niko" branded square one with 4 buttons with short/long hold assignable to anything from the app - individual lights or moods or rooms or upstairs or downstairs...

Despite a seemingly long list of problems and my difficulty in getting the system set up, I do really like having these switches installed. I have spent far less than I would have if I'd replaced every bulb with a Philips Hue smart bulb and I won't feel bad replacing bulbs down the line since they didn't each cost a lot. So a 10w increase for every dimmer wired to the same light. If you wire it to only one channel and ask the other channels to be wireless 2way switches, your minimum wattage will always only be 10w so this will help when wanting to use lower wattage LED bulbs. Lightwave smart switches are a range of multifunctional light and dimmer switches that are available in 1, 2, 3 and 4 gang versions. These intelligent dimmer switches can do a whole lot more than a traditional dimmer switch and are LED compatible. At the second switch move all wires fitted to L1 to the L terminal on the Lightwave switch. Move all wires fitted to L2 to the X terminal on the Lightwave switch. Move all wires fitted to C to the X terminal on the Lightwave switch. What if I have more than two switches in the circuit?
