Description

All amplifiers in DALI subwoofers have the stamina to keep a high-yield performance and the headroom to draw out that little extra when needed.

Here's a slightly curve ball suggestion: get an ifi Zen One Signature DAC and put it together with the amp of your choice. The Zen One is small, discreet, has a wide range inputs and sounds superb (well, I think so at least). Adhering to the low-loss sound design principle, the surround of the woofer is built to allow long and linear excursion. The oversized suspension is designed to allow both weak and strong transients to turn into undistorted acoustic signals. The engine of the woofer is built around an ‘oversized’ ferrite magnet, and optimized for maximum flux within the voice coil gap. The reason is that it was crucial for the project team to reach a high B/L product to enable the SUB E-9 F to render the finer low frequency details of music, also at a higher sound pressure level. The measured B/L value of 14 N/Ampere is a good indication of the level of control and precision that was reached, and rarely to be found in this category at all. And the numerous listening sessions has truly convinced us that this was the right way to go. So I am thinking af geeting some speakers for my open plan living room/kitchen area where the TV also lives. With Denon/Marantz av-receiver you also get the room correction (XT32) for speakers/sub, bass management, lot of cool features which may come handy. You can start with 2.1 and then add center channel later. Some people will go in-ceiling surrounds if not possible other way. Av-receiver would keep things open for future. You can still add 2ch integrated amp later if needed. The DALI SUB E-9 F is recommended as a complement to the compact models of the OBERON, SPEKTOR, ZENSOR and FAZON series. On top of this it is compatible with all DALI loudspeakers as the perfect completion of a DALI stereo or surround set up. All DALI subwoofers are compatible with almost any amplifier, receiver or processor due to the choice of LFE or LINE inputs. On this review the guy tried PB2000 in small room (1,200 cubic feet), getting slightly bloated bass but after running Audussey XT32 which you have too, it was fine.

All in all, the heavy-duty abilities of this “motor system” ensure that the woofer always follows the signal from the amplifier! Don't worry about not having a high pass filter. This isn't home theater where you're focus is on LFE. You're listening to music. I run a similar setup, wired the same way, using a 10" JL Audio subwoofer with Apogee Diva full range ribbon speakers. For film and TV you have the 3600 and the Elicit fired up, all you do on the Elicit is to engage HT by-pass by a simple press of a button on the fascia or the remote. In french review XTZ 10.17 was almost as good as 12.17 in a 10sqm room, so very near to Harkons room size. Plus XTZ has many tweaks (eq settings, port bungs) and beefy class d amp. I have never heard ported model in so small room so maybe other members can chime in about that.

The TV is wall mounted so I am thinking to go with floor-standing speakers (bookshelves would need a stand anyways). I dont have the space for a surround system so I am thinking of either a 2.1 system or 3.1 max. Budget is 2K. Adjust both the gain and crossover on the Dali E9F for best sound using some test tones and music. You should or want to blend the output of the Dali E9F with your speakers so that the Dali E9F more or less becomes invisible with a seamless, one sound, coming from all the speakers. HT by-pass is now finding it's way into lower tier amps making such connections a lot easier. It was once the domain if higher tier stereo amps. How would the Kef Q550/Q750 compare with the Dali 5 Oberons (assuming that I do have a sub). Would they be a better for the the 3600? Thank you both. This may sound a bit stupid, but I kinda assumed that if I go with a proper AV receiver I wouldn’t have to worry about amps/etc.
