The palpable chemistry between Izzy and Lucas, along with their witty banter, completely engrossed me in their love story. Izzy's vulnerability in opening up her feelings after being crushed by Lucas' rejection a year ago, and Lucas' efforts to make her fall in love with him, his patience, and his inner sweetness made me sigh and smile countless times.

The Forest Manor Hotel works hard over the holidays to survive and welcomes guests like family. It is filled with twists, and banter when coworkers Izzy and Lucas make the workplace difficult with their constant fighting.Playful, warm, uplifting, and so very satisfying. O'Leary has a gift for taking the reader to a place so full of joy, we never want to leave. Just lovely - Caroline Hulse The Wake-up Call is utter perfection: it's everything I love about romance books in a seductive, funny, big-hearted and masterfully told story." - Cressida McLaughlin She looks so different. She’s barefoot, with her hair unstriped and pulled up in a bun. There’s something vulnerable about her like this, and I feel a stab of an emotion that in another context I might call fear. But it’s not that, it can’t be — there’s nothing to be afraid of. The whole Ring Thing was just plain stupid. They should have kept the rings, sold them, used the money to fix the hotel and moved on...Problem solved. If they loved the hotel so much why wasn't that plan put into place right away? Bottom line, this was just too cutesy for my personal taste but I am glad I finally gave this author a go...it is my year of thinking outside the box as far as giving different genres go, and I can't expect all of them to work for me.

We are delighted to welcome bestselling romance authors Beth O'Leary and Sophie Irwin to your screens this October to talk about their brand new novels, The Wake-Up Call and A Lady's Guide to Scandal. With strong female leads, love triangles, steamy moments, long, lingering looks and comedy in abundence, these books have it all! We can't wait for you to fall in love with them as much as we have. Many thanks to NetGalley and Berkley Publishing for providing me with a digital reviewer copy of this amazing book in exchange for my honest thoughts. Beth writes her books in the Hampshire countryside with a very badly behaved Golden Retriever for company. If she's not at her desk, you'll usually find her curled up somewhere with a book, a cup of tea and several woolly jumpers (whatever the weather). Oh my goodness, I have not enjoyed a book like The Wake-Up Call in a long time! I could not stop reading, and when I wasn’t reading it, I couldn’t stop thinking about it! It was like having a crush! Equalparts heart-warming, touching, sharp, and sexy, Beth O’Leary just gets better and better.”―Lia Louis, author of The Key to My Heart Fetch me a beer. Like I’m a dog. I turn around, ready to snarl, but then Izzy appears in the doorway of the women’s changing room and I lose my train of thought entirely.

I was somewhat disappointed with this because I'd thought The Flat Share was a cute story and since this is so obviously for the Christmas market I thought it might be the same sort of rom-com, sweet story with a bit of an edge. I adored The Wake-Up Call. It's got warmth and depth and so much humour. I was swept away - Lucy Vine Praise for The Wake-Up Call: The new festive enemies-to-lovers romcom from the author of THE FLATSHARE

Beth O'Leary is that rare, one-in-a-million talent who can make you laugh, swoon, cry and ache all in the same book' Emily Henry The saving grace? There are some great secondary characters and the holiday season and lovely setting add a nice dose of charm. The ending also turns the mood around. Had it not taken so long to get there, and if the more appealing aspects of the story had been amped up, I would’ve liked the story more. I have a love-hate with romances revolving around a miscommunication that could easily be solved with one conversation. In this case, it's a yearlong miscommunication that has convinced Izzy her coworker, Lucas, is the bane of her existence. On top of that, there was an enemies-with-benefits situation. Absolutely sizzling, yes, but it only furthered my annoyance that these two simply didn't clear the air sooner.

It’s the most wonderful time of the year, and Forest Manor Hotel is quite literally falling apart. So when sworn enemies Izzy and Lucas are given the same shift on the hotel’s front desk, they have no choice but to put their differences aside. The subplot with Izzy and Lucas searching for the owners of a handful of long-lost wedding rings was a charming arc to follow, leading to some really sweet and tender reveals and some very funny moments that made me laugh-out-loud in classic rom-com style. Playful, warm, uplifting, and so very satisfying. O’Leary has a gift for taking the reader to a place so full of joy, we never want to leave. Just lovely.”―Caroline Hulse, author of All the Fun of the Fair A lifetime of duty Widowed at just seven-and-twenty from her marriage of convenience, Eliza, now Countess of Somerset, is bequeathed a fortune, hers to keep – provided she can steer clear of scandal. Izzy and Lucas, will have to co-exist and put their differences aside, sharing all of the responsibilities of the day shift, when staff reductions are made at the struggling Forest Manor Hotel, while “Poor Mandy” will man the night shift on her own.
