Description

OptiLube Zero is manufactured for Optimum Medical by Sion Biotext Medical Ltd under the name Cervilube. OptiLube Zero (Cervilube) has been approved for use with the ThinPrep Pap Test by Hologic. OptiLube is a water-soluble lubricating jelly, used to aid the smooth insertion of medical devices into the body, reducing the risk of pain, trauma and infection. Available in sachets, tubes and syringes, in a range of sizes, to ensure there is an OptiLube format to suit each procedural requirement and clinician preference. OptiLube effectively adheres to gloves and instruments, without causing damage to rubber or metal equipment. OptiLube Zero contains no carbomers, no parabens and no chlorhexidine, and is expertly formulated to offer optimal lubrication to aid the insertion of medical devices during a range of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. Working closely with healthcare professionals, we understand just how vital lubricants and gels are to many clinical procedures. The very first products we developed were lubricant gels, and we are true specialists in this field, creating highly effective formulations for a range of applications. OptiLube Reach is our tube with an elongated nozzle, designed for use during procedures where precise application of sterile lubrication is required. Lubrication for catheterisation

Vue Ultrasound Gel is a non-sterile, single use, non-invasive medical device used in medical diagnostic ultrasound procedures. In this day and age, it’s very important to use single-use sachets because they’re less likely to get contaminated or be exposed to bacteria and they’re actually quite handy to carry around.” OptiLube sterile lubricating jelly is a medical device, developed to aid the smooth insertion of medical devices during a range of examinations and procedures. OptiLube Zero is available in 5g sachets. Our sachets are designed for individual patient use. The use of single-use sachets promotes increased infection control, reduces the risk of patient-to-patient contamination, and reduces product waste. The tissue down there can be very delicate, for example at the vagina entrance. So you’d want to insert the speculum as gently as possible and the lubrication helps the speculum go in without causing any microtrauma to the tissue.” Catheterisation is a procedure carried out to drain urine by inserting a flexible tube called a catheter into the bladder. The catheter is inserted either through the urethra (urethral catheterisation) or through an incision in the lower abdomen (suprapubic catheterisation). Our main lubrication and gel brands are OptiLube, OptiLube Active and Vue Ultrasound Gel. Each one is highly regarded by clinicians in the UK and around the world. Our 20g sachet is supplied double-wrapped and is sterile inside and outside the sachet. Larger volume tubes I have been using this product for a couple of years now and it is the best value for money than any of the alternatives I have tried and does what it says on the box.

For children between the age of 2 years and 15 years, the maximum dosage is 0.3g gel per kg of body-weight. This is equivalent to 6mg of lidocaine per kg of body-weight. With each of these brands, we provide detailed product training, to ensure our lubricants and gels bring maximum benefit to many aspects of healthcare. We believe this support is just as important as the products themselves. Chlorhexidine has been identified as the cause of hypersensitivity reactions in some patients, which is why we offer a choice of three catheterisation jellies.

OptiLube Active contains active ingredients 2% Lidocaine and 0.05% Chlorhexidine Gluconate offering optimal lubrication with the added benefit of local anaesthetic and antiseptic, while OptiLube contains no active ingredient and is ideally suited for patients with sensitivities to the active ingredients contained in OptiLube Active.

Non-sterile ultrasound gel should be used for external examinations only and is not suitable for use on immunocompromised, neonatal, or critically ill hospitalised patients. Vue Ultrasound Gel provides optimal transmission in ultrasonic diagnosis, ultrasonic therapy, ECG, EEG and EMG. OptiLube Active CHG Free is ideally suited to patients with a contraindication or sensitivity to Chlorhexidine. OptiLube Active CHG Free is part of our catheterisation jelly range, a range of sterile, lubricating pre-filled syringes, developed specifically for use during urethral catheterisation. Vue Ultrasound Gel has been specifically formulated for use during ultrasound procedures. The primary role of an ultrasound gel is to act as a conductor for the ultrasound waves, allowing them to pass into the body without being affected by the air. The secondary role of ultrasound gel during ultrasound procedures, is to allow the probe or medical device used for the procedure, to move smoothly, reducing resistance and potential discomfort to the patient. The newest addition to our catheterisation jelly range is OptiLube Active CHG Free. OptiLube Active CHG Free contains the active ingredient 2% Lidocaine, helping to reduce pain during and after catheterisation, ideally suited for patients who display a sensitivity to chlorhexidine or in hospitals where chlorhexidine use for catheterisation is contraindicated.
