We take quality seriously - all of our grass seeds and lawn seeds are tried and tested on our own research and development grounds, utilising the highest quality species available. Furthermore, our lawn seeds, sports grass seeds, and golf grass seeds only contain cultivars recommended by the Sports Turf Research Institute. Germination: Within 10–21 days fine Kikuyu hairs should appear, however this is condition and climate dependent. Easily spreads into other vegetation and areas where it is not required to grow, grass clippings should not be used in compost as this can cause seeds collected via mowing to germinate

Moss can become problematic in areas that are particularly damp and shady. Moss Killeris best applied during March-October when moss is actively growing. Allow your lawn to grow to around 3-4 inches in height before cutting your lawn. This can be reduced by half an inch each time until you reach the desired height. An established lawn sown with our Quality Hard WearingLawn Grass Seed can be cut as low as 20-40mm. It is important to remove the grass cuttings as dead grass will prevent sunlight from getting to the new grass. Allow your lawn to grow to around 3-4 inches in height before cutting your lawn. Cultivate the area to a depth of 15cm and remove any debris that is unearthed. For heavy clay soils, optionally, mix in sharp sand. Our comprehensive range of lawn seed mixtures are usually composed of leading varieties of perennial ryegrass, chewing’s fescue, slender creeping red fescueand bentgrass. We carefully select the best varieties of grass seed using data supplied by the Sports Turf Research Institute. Each variety is then sourcedfrom the world’s top plant breeders - ensuring consistent quality each and everytime. The best time to sow our Quality Hard Wearing LawnSeed is from March-October, when the soil temperature is around 8-10 degrees. Under optimum conditions, the seed should germinate within 10-14 days from sowing.

Regularly fertilising your lawn will provide it with the nutrients it requires to stay lush and green all year-round. Spread the grass seed evenly across the area at a minimum of 25g/sqm. A spreadercan be used for accurate application. For cooler areas of Australia allow enough time after sowing for seedlings to establish to enable them to withstand the first cold days of Winter and frost. A guide for this is approximately 6 weeks post germination. Therefore, sowing early Autumn is usually the latest timeframe recommended for these areas, with Spring to late Summer being preferred. The best time to sow our Premier Lawn Seed is from March-October, when the soil temperature is around 8-10 degrees. Under optimum conditions, the seed should germinate within 10-14 days from sowing. Optionally, to aid drainage, use a garden fork or aerator to create small holes of around 1-2 inches deep.If going through a period of drought, water the area every other evening for the first few weeks. Ifregular rainfall, manually watering will not be necessary. Spread the grass seed evenly across the area at 50g/sqm. A spreadercan be used for accurate application. Under optimum conditions, the seed should germinate within approximately 10-14 days. Once it reaches 3-4 inches, cut the lawn for the first time, gradually lowering the height with each subsequent cut as desired. Rake the area to loosen the top layer of soil. Apply our Pre-Seeding Lawn Fertiliserand rake into the soil.

If possible, leave the soil for a week to allow a flush of weeds to come through;remove before sowing. Contains: 27% amenity perennial ryegrass, 55% strong creeping red fescue, 10% slender creeping redfescue, 5% smooth-stalked meadow grass and 3% highland bent Mowing Frequency: Kikuyu should be kept to around 5cm in height to reduce thatching of the grass. It is one of the fastest growing warm season grasses and will have increased mowing requirements through the active growth phase in the warmer months. During dormancy in the winter months the growth of Kikuyu will slow significantly and reduce the mowing requirements. Unfortunately, as comes with seedbed preparation, weed seeds can lay dormant in the soil and it’s not until they are disturbed and the conditions are ideal, that they then can start to germinate.Optimal Planting Time:The best time for sowing Kikuyu is late Spring to late Summer. As long as the temperature is within the optimum temperatures of 18-29°C you can expect germination. Grass seed requires warmth, moisture and light to germinate. Typically, autumn will provide more favourable conditions for sowing in terms of moisture, however, if there is a period of drought, manually watering the seeds will be beneficial – this can be done every other evening to allow the moisture to soak into the soil.
