Description

Although the SRPG47K1 is not a professional diver’s watch (it has a non-ISO 10 ATM water resistance) but rather a desk-diver, it comes with top-notch quality.

When it comes to proper dive watches, Seiko is probably the first name on everybody’s lips. Throughout their long years in business, they’ve managed to establish a trustworthy reputation that is hard to beat. In fact, some of the best affordable dive watches come precisely from Seiko. A scratch-resistant hardlex crystal keeps the dial safe, with the watch also rated down to 100m of water resistance. Inside the case you’ve got a Seiko Seiko Caliber 7S36 movement, delivering 40 hours of automatic timekeeping which is a nice surprise at this price point. While this article is focused on Seiko, this is a great alternative to one of the best budget field watches around, the Hamilton Khaki Field.

62MAS and SPBxxx background

As such, the vast majority of the brand’s watches come with a proprietary Luminox Light Technology that comprises tritium tubes placed on hands and hour markers with a 25-year lifetime. Luminox watches are thus one of the best luminous timepieces one can have. A white dial dive watch is a rarity that can complement every man’s outfit and collection. Unfortunately, the fact they are not abundantly available doesn’t offer a rich choice to choose from. However, the divers we were able to compile to this shortlist have enough differences, designs, and features for some variegated selection. The ref. SNZG13K1 is paired with a three-piece link stainless steel bracelet. The ref. SNZG15K1 is an identical timepiece, but mounted on a textile strap. Both versions start at around 180 USD. The Nixon might be a tad too expensive for an average Joe. But, let’s be honest, for a fashionable man, it will fit the bill without any doubt. And we must admit the watch looks impressive, indeed.

Seiko only produced 1,959 pieces of the 1959 Alpinist Re-Creation, making it a sought-after collector's item. It goes for around 2,700 USD on Chrono24. The Re-Interpretation

The Polar 62MAS Interpretation…

All this preamble aside, the Arita porcelain dial is what the SPB171 is all about. Rich and deep with blue accents, it’s not hard to understand why porcelain is a potent material when put in capable hands. For Seiko, Arita porcelain artisan Hiroyuki Hashiguchi has been overseeing the creation of these dials (more on Arita porcelain and Mr. Hashiguchi here). The pictures will say more than words can, frankly. And even then, porcelain dials need to be seen in person be fully appreciated. “Depth” and “richness” are, again, the two descriptors that work best to describe it, and the contrast against the blue hands, indices, and other dial aspects is absolutely stunning. Invicta has several other white face dive watches besides the Grand Diver model, such as the Invicta Pro Diver watch. It is one of the few 40mm dive watches currently available, making it quite special not only because of the dial color but also for its size. SLGH005 captures the dynamism of the white birch tree forests near the studio in Shizukuishi, where all Grand Seiko mechanical watches are crafted. To look closely at the dial is to experience the exact same feeling that the visitor to these forests receives and to be brought closer than ever to

The SPB14X series drew my attention from the beginning, even on the flesh the impression was extremely positive. I was just looking for something more “summery”. An then the anniversary edition came out and trigger was pulled instantly at my local AD. This 140th Anniversary SPB213J1 is worn on a stainless steel bracelet with super-hard coating and closed by a folding clasp with a diving extension. An excellent match with the rest of the watch, I can easily see this versatile model worn on colourful NATO straps or a blue rubber strap. Availability & Price And since 2021 marked the 140th anniversary of the foundation of Seiko, the brand has decided to treat us to multiple limited edition models, including the present watch. The Polar 62MAS Interpretation…Suigetsu” is evocative of viewing the moon reflected onto water, and it’s the theme that defines the SPB171. It’s a beautiful metaphor for the cool blue against the glossy surface of the white porcelain, a theme that’s carried on with the blue crocodile strap, which is actually a new color for Seiko. In contrast to most of the watches on this list, the Tag Heuer timepiece is powered by a quartz movement. As a result, it’s not as glamorous as an automatic equivalent but, on the other hand, offers better accuracy and is much cheaper.

In 2006, Seiko relaunched the Alpinist as part of the SARB line. The design largely follows that of the "Red Alpinist," with one exception: The watch no longer has a lens for the date display. As part of the Prospex collection, the SARB Alpinists use the high-quality caliber 6R15 with a 50-hour power reserve. Seiko produced the watch in a number of different versions, though many appeared exclusively on the Asian market. In 1963, Seiko gave the Alpinist a redesign and made it a part of the Champion collection. The watch's diameter remained 35 mm. The Alpinist Champion 850 is powered by the caliber 850, as reflected in its name. Simultaneous with the release of the Re-Creation, Seiko also introduced a series of modern reinterpretations under the name 1959 Alpinist Re-Interpretation. These watches have a diameter of 38 mm, a flat sapphire crystal, and are powered by the caliber 6R35. However, not all watches follow the same pattern. For example, a white dial dive watch is a breeze of fresh air for its unique aesthetics compared to typical divers. It may not be as legible as dark ones in daylight but will offer plenty of lume in dim conditions.Nevertheless, the SRP481K1 is a genuine water sports piece for submersion due to a water resistance rating of 100m (330ft). So, anything lighter than shallow diving won’t do any harm to it.
