Gushes I am soooo freaking glad Madoc gets his own book, I expect a funny az hell ride, he's not been the sharpest tool in the shed in the previous books but you can't help but like his character.. It’s April fourteenth,” I piped up over Madoc’s shoulder, causing him to spin around. “That mean anything to you, Shit-for-Brains?” I directed at Jared. I actually really liked both of the main characters in this story. Once I figured out why they had this big rivalry, I understood them both better.

I'm so disappointed with this book! From the very start it was cliché after cliché. There was so many scenes and dialogue that I skipped because it was just too cringey to read. Everything was so unrealistic or dramatic for the sake of it. I hoped that this series would of improved as time went on because I think each book has great potential but the execution doesn't work for me sadly. I was highlighting so many mistakes on my kindle I simply had to stop.Penelope Douglas shot onto the Indie scene just a year ago with the release of her New York Times best selling novel, Bully. She brought to life a collection of friends who thrived on secrets, who functioned on the fuel that only adolescence and the gritty hardships of life can bring. She made her characters real, raw and set hearts stampeding with the push/love, love/hate dynamic her main characters doled out at one another. In the dark, with only the sound of our breaths to keep us company, the truth breaks free, shatters the notions of the people we present to the world. She shook her head. “You don’t even remember what today is, do you?” She folded her trembling lips between her teeth and looked down at the ground. Penelope Douglas is a writer in Las Vegas. Born in Dubuque, Iowa, she is the oldest of five children. Penelope attended the University of Northern Iowa, earning a Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration, because her father told her to “just get the degree!” She then earned a Masters of Science in Education at Loyola University in New Orleans, because she hated Public Administration. One night, she got tipsy and told the bouncer at the bar where she worked that his son was hot, and three years later they were married. To the son, not the bouncer. They have spawn, but just one. A daughter named Aydan. Penelope loves sweets, The Originals, and she shops at Target almost daily. Overall, I wasn't wowed but still a decent read for me. And if you loved Bully and Until You, I'd still definitely recommend this one.

Once Fallon and Madoc finally open up to each other and are honest about everything that happened over the last two years, they were able to move forward, together. yet they seem to become buddy-buddy pretty easily considering how socially inept they both appear to be.OMG can't wait ....love soo much this type of storylines with angst, character knowing each other since childhood, sexual tension, the game of seduction, who's going to succumb first. Madoc, on the other hand, cared what everyone thought. Our parents. The principal. And most of the student body. He loved being loved, and he hated his association with me. We sat there, eating and chatting for the next hour, and then Madoc reluctantly let me out of bed after I’d begged to use the bathroom." Rival by Penelope Douglas is part of a series that falls between the first two books, so if you have read both I think this is a different couple, but it’s not that it makes no sense if you don’t know the other characters. It’s a classic “love-hate-you, hate-love-you” scenario, and Penelope Douglas is a master at bullying you in a way that beats rivals. Another thing that didn't work for me are the major plot devices--yup, devices used in this book. There were, oh, I don't know, three major ones not to mention the many side plots running along the three main ones. It ended up trite and a little bit all over the place for me. There was entirely too many things happening that Madoc and Fallon's character development sort of got lost in the shuffle.
