There are also plenty of videos within the app that feature expert advice on relieving pain, improving form in fitness, and general health and lifestyle tips. Many massage guns will come with specific instructions about what attachments to use on what muscles. Make sure to read them when you’re in doubt. Either way, the device is in a nice box with the attachments and the charger as the other accessories. International plug adapters included, but no carrying case.

The Go is small, portable and compact, but it’s a tad shy from being the perfect mini-gun. Compared to mini massage guns like the Ekrin Bantam or the Addsfit Mini Pro, the Go is noticeably larger. Most mini guns we have tested have 7-8mm head travel. With 10mm the Go actually falls under the elite category of mini massage guns. Other features include 3 speeds (similar to the Go), a carrying case and 4 quality and varied attachments. The Hyperice Hypervolt GO 2 is a solid piece of kit. It really is the smaller version of the big Hypervolt 2, and I mean this as a compliment. The main difference between the two – apart from the size, of course – is that the Hypervolt GO 2 has a slightly angled handle. To put these massage guns to the test, we hit the Shape testing lab to learn the ins and outs of each product. With a physical therapist’s guidance, we tried the guns on each muscle group, noting things like the ease of use, pressure, and versatility of each model. The battery is designed to last for up to 2.5 hours on a full charge. We didn’t have the time to put this to the test during our at-home testing, but we did use the Hypervolt Go for around an hour in total, with no loss of power or performance. The Theragun Mini 2.0 won almost every category associated with portability. Its triangular design is extremely compact and lightweight, and with three speed settings and three interchangeable heads, you can give yourself a thorough, soothing massage wherever you happen to be. However, while most reviewers find the max PPM to be plenty effective, it’s not the most powerful portable massager out there. This one offers a slightly different proposition but it’s still a better alternative in our opinion.

We’ve tried a lot of massage guns in our time—and many of them are heavy, difficult to hold, and loud. That’s not the case with Hypervolt Go 2. The small contraption relaxed our muscles, featured a nice grip, and stayed quiet enough that we could watch television or talk to our partners without having to shout over the recovery device. So no, it’s not a full-sized Hypervolt, but taken for what it is, the GO might offer enough versatility to meet your needs. Hypervolt GO Pros/Cons However, some brands have rushed these and as a result the market is flooded by devices that are simply not good enough, even for convenience. But was the Hypervolt Go rushed, or did Hyperice come up with a well thought out mini massager?

Little official scientific research has been conducted on the effects of massage guns, but many medical professionals have expressed that these devices have certain benefits. Doctors often recommend massage guns to patients who want to reduce muscle soreness/stiffness, improve flexibility, and increase range of motion after an injury or difficult workout. Massage guns like the Hypervolt work by using percussion technology to increase blood flow and soften tissue, ultimately reducing muscle pain. Why We Like It: Easy to use, effective, and incredibly portable, the Hypervolt Go 2 will supplement your active lifestyle without weighing you down. Even though Hyperice aren’t known for long amplitudes like their rivals Theragun (we didn’t think the Go would match the Mini’s 12mm amplitude), its 10mm amplitude is more than enough for its purpose. Hypervolt GO measured amplitude: 10.6mm. More than enough.

Massage Power

As a former massage gun skeptic, I would say the Hypervolt Go 2 is worth it — especially for regular gym-goers. It’s a surprisingly powerful device that’s both quiet and convenient, making it an easy addition to any gym bag. Plus, the battery life was pretty great — it lasted all week on a single charge, even with daily usage — so I didn’t need to worry about keeping the charger nearby. After installing the app, users are invited to select the sports they usually partake in. This helps the app to serve up specific massage routines. The app can also connect with other apps, such as Strava and Garmin, to get information on your fitness routine, though you can skip this step if you wish. Before we talk the performance, we will mention one killer feature of the Mini Pro massage gun: the extensible handle. A small 2020 study of the Hypervolt revealed that it increased the range of motion in 16 healthy males on their calf muscles. However, it did not increase muscle torque or strength. The study mentions that the increase in range of motion is similar to what the participants would get from a traditional massage. Maximum stall force is a piece of jargon you need to understand before using a massage gun. “Stall Force is the force that is required for the massage gun to stop moving,” explains Gavin Hamer, DPT, National Director of Education for FYZICAL Therapy & Balance Centers. In other words, it’s the amount of pressure your muscles will feel when you turn on the gun and hold it against your skin.
