love them i do got to say Jyuu Ayakura and Keito Koume did exalent jobs on drawing the characters and the surroundings. And it would be a weird romance story indeed, assuming Lawrence wouldn’t be a witty merchant, Holo wouldn’t waste her time on a man so foolish.

She is definitely the star of the show, and the reason why I’ll continue to read this series for the time being. I think Lawrence’s character design works, I find him kinda ugly and have to assume that Holo is swayed by his charismatic charm.It would have been nice to actually see what happened there instead of being told vaguely about it through more diagrams and plans. The story itself is about their efforts to make the most out of their trades, and the progression of their peculiar relationship on this trade-filled journey, which is also filled with arcs and different obstacles in their way. There are pretty solid stories behind each of these schemes, and the side characters that are involved with them are pretty decently fleshed out as side characters, though only to the level of side characters.

When all hope seems lost, though, just how far is the merchant willing to go to protect his livelihood -- and his life? for the Church, the sewers in the random town in ep 4 through 6 that are all relatively well lit and literally 20+ people go running around in them, the 3+ guilds that all either backstab or sell out Lawrence and Holo to the church, the entire Nora subplot, the random ass giant 20+ wolf that Holo might know in the forest, the gold smuggling for Church stamp/tax reasons, the countries/counties that get mentioned, etc.As Lawrence and Holo put the final phase of their plan to extricate themselves from the jaws of financial ruin into motion, they are confronted by an unforeseen obstacle. Due to her old age and hundreds of years of solitude, she has developed a personality and wisdom which come not only with insane character depth and complexity, but behavior and waifugame so strong she alone could be criticized for Japan's dropping birth rate as real women can't compete. First off, hats off to the translators who were able to capture the wit and flirtatious nature of the dialogue between Holo and Lawrence.
