And once again allow me to salute your subtle genius that still, books and books later, goes almost completely undiscovered. A constant favourite with readers, their tale has now been adapted for the stage by hugely experienced children's theatre director, Vicky Ireland, and a sell-out UK tour was seen and loved by thousands of children. She also realises, alternately, that being together would have helped Garnet feel better about leaving. This book was very interesting to read even though i read it in primary i still enjoy the book i think it was a funny and interesting book i had lots of fun reading this and i would recommend to everyone it was a brilliant book i love it. After making friends with someone she previously considered rather a bully, Ruby starts to realize that she and Garnet don't need to be the same, and don't have to do the same things, to be happy.

She also realizes, alternately, that being together would have helped Garnet feel better about leaving. I have lost track of how many times I have read it but I still continue to because it's a Jacqueline Wilson book and you can read her books over and over again! Close to the end of the book the story took a big turn that was very sudden but it was very satisfying. I do understand that no one could be like a mother to them, because your mother gave birth to you and knows every silly detail about you. But one day they see on the notice board a poster about a modelling thing so they go there on a Saturday, but there dad find's out and Garnet get sent to a boarding school and Ruby doesn't .Both Ruby and Garnet annoyed me in a way because some of their character traits were a bit too strong. Near summer, Ruby, realising that the school where the TV movie is being filmed at is a prestigious boarding school for girls, Marnock Heights, decides that the pair ought to sign up for scholarships—of which there is only one. At this point in the novel, Garnet is no longer narrating- Ruby has changed the "book" to a Memorandum, which she continues writing in until the end of the book. My phone started updating just as I was proofreading my review, which promptly disappeared, so this is my second go, and it's going to be brief now since I want to go to sleep! Ruby is the one who is elder by 20 minutes and shows dominance in her behaviour but she is highly protective of Garnet.

I get the point, though, because as the story progresses both girls seem to grow up and accept themselves as they are. But when Dad finds a new girlfriend everything in the twins’ lives is turned upside down–new home, new school, new everything. Ruby and Garnet hate the idea, that means that they will have to change schools and they will have to live with Rose. JACQUELINE WILSON is an extremely well-known and hugely popular author who served as Children's Laureate from 2005-7.Leaving Gran behind, having a new stepmother, moving in with her and of course Garnet going to a new private school! Their enemy is Rose, the new girlfriend of their father, but over the time they will change their mind. If you weren't already in awe of his selfishness, he even manages to dump his mother-in-law - who spent the last three years raising his kids for him - into sheltered accommodation. Double Act was "Highly Commended" runner up for the annual Carnegie Medal from the British Library Association, recognising the year's best children's book by a British subject. I imagine it is something that to an 11 year old probably feels like one of the biggest things that has happened to them and this book covered that subject in a realistic way.
