Packed with fantastic photography, First Human Body Encyclopedia is ideal for kids who want to discover the body from head to toe.

The first description of dinosaurs as a separate group of life forms (known as “Dinosauria”) was published in 1842 by British paleontologist Richard Owen, who based his findings on fossil fragments of the Cladeiodon and the Cetiosaurus. Other topics such as evolution, fossilisation, and climate change are explored in-depth to build up a complete picture of the dinosaur era. Those illustrations were extremely dated even when produced in 1986, so seeing them serve as inspiration in 2000 was… concerning. It’s slightly out of my budget (speaking as a pathological collector of model dinosaurs and other animals) but I’ll humbly accept it as a gift should anyone wish to obtain it on my behalf. It's the perfect beginner's reference book for children aged 7-9 who are curious about all things dinosaurs. A big deal for me, since David’s books had a big influence on me when I was a kid, and I was pleased to tell him this in person. On completion of everything (early April 2001), we had a party somewhere close to the DK office (possibly in a DK office, I no longer remember), something that’s not at all typical.

The name dinosaur comes from the Greek words deinos (“terrible” or “fearfully great”) and sauros (“reptile” or “lizard”).Encompassing engaging facts about over 60 species of dinosaur, including a closer look at dinosaur diversity, fossilization, and the new era of dinosaurs. This means that you find yourself ‘living’ in the world of one particular collection of animals – say, Paleozoic tetrapods or hoofed mammals – before saying goodbye and moving to the next. The extensive fossil record of genera and species is testimony that dinosaurs were diverse animals, with widely varying lifestyles and adaptations.

This brand-new updated paperback edition also includes brand new carnivorous dinosaurs discovered by the author himself, which have never before been seen in print. A popular theory is that an asteroid crashed into the Yucatán Peninsula 66 million years ago, causing enough terrestrial and asteroid material to be ejected into the atmosphere that sunlight was possibly blocked for several years.Dorling Kindersley are a great company to work with and I’ve always enjoyed my projects with them, but this job was intense, there being several teams working concurrently on the different batches. The new home of the world-famous Tetrapod Zoology blog - Tet Zoo for short - now in its fourth iteration.
