Description

I saw someone compare this novel to “Strangers Things meets Ghost Hunters” and I 100% agree with this sentiment. Don't be deterred by the wooden beginning, which for some could be a deal breaker in those first pages of deciding whether the story is worth sticking with, as you're unlikely to be grabbed instantly. I absolutely flew through City of Ghosts, but honestly, I was hoping for a bit more from the spooky Middle Grade story.

Fazit: Wer also Lust auf eine Reise in das kalte Russland in der Nachkriegszeit hat und dabei einen spannenden sowie sehr komplexen Plot verfolgen möchte, sollte sich mit diesem Thriller vertraut machen. If you are afraid of her denser, more adult books , just start with this as it's an excellent middle grade book and just a cute story overall. Everything seemed dimmed down, but I guess it had to be because the audience that’s being catered to now has changed. Als wäre dies hart genug, da der Täter fast keine Spuren hinterlassen hat, holt den Leuntnant seine Vergangenheit ein. Cassidy can enter the '' veil '' a place where souls of people who died stay if they havent moved on yet. When Cass accidentally awakens a frighteningly strong spirit, she must rely on her still-growing skills as a ghosthunter -- and turn to friends both old and new to help her unravel a mystery. The books are perfect for middle-grade readers and fans of Neil Gaiman and Laini Taylor - they are ghostly stories of friendship and adventure that are haunting and mysterious, without being too terrifying. It’s gripping story holds you spellbound in horror of the darkness that still pervades the Russian psyche today.

Even from the first paragraph, the author sets the story on the high-quality mystery and crime thrillers, it’s dark and whimsical in many ways but it also has moments of humanity when our hero is transported so many times in his early years and all the events he thought he left behind. NYT bestselling author Victoria Schwab delivers a thrillingly spooky and action-packed tale of hauntings, history, mystery, and the bond between friends (even if that friend is a ghost . So, all in all I’m really happy I’ve read this story and can’t wait to read the next books in this series.Once there was a woman, a beauty with fair skin and black hair, and a little boy who loved to wander.

Story wise, the idea was great -as usual- and the story got interesting more and more (it was really good from the ghost hunters part and after that). But i didnt have the connection with it and feels as i have with her adult books which makes sense as this is a different age level as where its written for. I would reccomend if ofc too younger readers and for Ve schwab fans who want too read more of her different works , just dont go in expecting something like her adult books. We work closely with publishers and authors to ensure that we offer the best books on the market for your child. It will take centuries to wipe away such horror from the memories of people alive today who lived through the period, even longer for Russia to recover its soul.Rossel is sensitive and caring and on the surface seems wholly unsuited to his role as a harbinger of the rules and regulations that so strictly dictate society, and this makes him a compelling and interesting character. Overall, City of Ghosts is an atmospheric, creepy book that will definitely keep you engaged with its fast pace and intriguing characters, but the lack of proper plot development is something that really bothered me and kept me from enjoying it more. I used to stay up all night in my room scared out of my mind watching it, so when I read the synopsis of this I knew I needed to read it. Of course there are no horrible plot twists or especially complex characters but this isn’t what the book aimed for and if you’re aware of this you’ll not only be fine but also able to savour it properly.
