Apple kept the faith with the iPhone 13 mini and the iPhone SE, but sadly, the company didn't release an iPhone 14 or 15 mini and eventually dropped the 13 mini from its lineup. Asus, Samsung, and Sony are all keeping smaller premium devices in their lineups, however. The iPhone SE (2022) is the cheapest way to enjoy a new 5G iPhone. It looks a lot like its predecessor with no change to its body, and the same Liquid Retina display as before, but why fix a design that works so well?

The handset has a decent – albeit single-lens – 12MP camera too, and a premium (read: metal and glass) if slightly old-fashioned design. The phone, which is designed by former Samsung executives, lets you partially disconnect from all the noise and distractions on your main device. If you use your phone for business, the Palm is an excellent way to cut loose at weekends or when you're on vacation. Like the Unihertz Jelly Pro, it is only compatible with GSM carriers. In the United States, that means the phone will not work with Sprint, Verizon, Boost, or Virgin. The Samsung Galaxy S10e is getting on a bit now, but if you want a compact Galaxy S phone this remains your best option. As a member of the S range it’s reasonably high-end, with either 6GB or 8GB of RAM and an Exynos 9820 or Snapdragon 855 chipset. Which chipset you get depends on where you are in the world, but both rank among the best of this phone’s release year (2019).If you're looking for a small phone because you find big screens distracting or exhausting, small voice phones are worth considering. The Nokia 2780 Flip is a tiny and inexpensive flip phone that's still functional. These little flip phones fit just as well in your hand now as their ancestors did in 2006. Palm breadth tells you how wide a phone can be before it falls out of your hand; thumb length tells you how wide a screen can be and still be usable in one hand. According to an old NASA study cited by HealthLine, the average handbreadth is 3.1 inches for women and 3.5 inches for men. So, that 2.8-inch phone width from LG is just a hair wider than the full reach of the average male thumb. Beyond the screen and the size, highlights of the iPhone 12 mini include its 5G support, its MagSafe tech which lets you magnetically attach accessories, and its top-tier power, provided by an A14 Bionic chipset (the same one as you’ll find in the rest of the iPhone 12 range). Bottom Line:While it isn't quite the revelation its predecessor was, Apple's 2022 iPhone SE is a solid small phone that should remain relevant for years to come.

Once again, it's an ideal device for people who want to work out without a bulky traditional phone, or for people who want to stay connected discreetly. That is, connected in a limited way as the AIEK M5 is only a feature phone. The Sony Xperia 10 III isn't a great phone but if size is everything, its mature design makes up for some flaws. Dodging past its poor camera, slow charging, and mediocre processor, its 6-inch display squeezes into a design that's just 68mm wide, only slightly wider than the iPhone SE (2020). Bottom Line:Premium specs, good battery life, and an above-average camera make the Samsung Galaxy S23 one of the best compact Android phones you can buy. How Big Is Too Big?

There's no denying the iPhone SE (2022) has a small screen. Coming in at just 4.7 inches, the Liquid Retina display has a 1334 x 750 resolution (326 ppi) with a 60Hz refresh rate. The phone looks good, though its traditional style, reminiscent of the iPhone 8, might not be to all tastes. That diminutive screen makes it easy to operate the phone one-handed, though, and you get Touch ID integrated into the Home button rather than the now-more-common Face ID. Even though the Pixel 6a has a smaller 6.1-inch display compared to the other Pixel models, the display is still OLED with Full HD+ resolution at 1080 x 2400 pixels. You also get the Tensor chip, which powers Android 12. It's fast and will keep up with any tasks that you throw at it reasonably well, including gaming. There's also an in-screen fingerprint sensor on the Pixel 6a; surprisingly, it works well compared to other devices. The iPhone SE (2020) is Apple’s budget iPhone, but it’s also one of the company’s smallest available models. In fact, at 4.7 inches its screen is the smallest (as well as being smaller than almost any other widely available smartphone), but as noted above the actual dimensions are slightly larger than the iPhone 12 mini’s.

Taking photos in low light situations works well too, easily being some of the best we've seen. The Galaxy Z Flip 4 has a basic camera setup that includes a 12MP primary camera, a 12MP ultrawide camera, and a 10MP selfie camera. Battery life is markedly better than its predecessor, but it's still only enough for one full day.
