In case you've no idea what I'm going on about re retention, this is the ground coffee that remains each time you grind, which then ends up in your portafilter the next time you grind. For comparison, the flat burr DF64 has a 250 Watt motor, and you’ll see in our Mahlkonig X54 review that the motor is only 120 Watts. The grinder is great - I’m still playing with the grind settings to get what I want as it takes a while when you only have two coffees a day! Could you please explain the difference in this model whish appears to be more expensive than the Specialita. There are also other features that you won’t see but you will definitely notice when grinding the coffee: Eureka’s silent technology, for instance, makes it up to 10 dB quieter than the previous generation allowing you to prepare your early morning coffee without waking up the whole family.

Based on the very popular Specialita grinder, the "Switch" boasts a single dose hopper with bellows, a large (micrometric) grind indicator knob (making it easier to select your grind level) and includes the Eureka dosing funnel making this a grinder package easy to switch from multiple coffee's to single dosing and keeping your coffee making area clean and tidy. Once the timed dose is set, grinding is as simple as slotting a portafilter into the portafilter holder so that it pushes the button at the back. The home barista who wants incredibly smooth flat burr shots, but needs a grinder that can fit their space requirements and pull a few shots in the morning without waking up the whole house. Mignon Specialista is the best espresso grinder for anyone just starting to get serious about the hobby. There's a timer on the Crono, allowing you to grind from 5 to 60 seconds, and you can also grind on demand by pushing and holding the grind button. We're a bunch of self-confessed coffee nerds, each with our own journey through the specialty coffee industry. The exception, which is disappointingly true of the best prosumer-level coffee grinders, even those far more expensive than the Specialita, is the plastic bean hopper and hopper stopper.

The touch screen is an attractive white-on-black display, which looks nice and is very easy on the eyes first thing in the morning. Eureka even sells a grounds catch bin to fit the Specialita, which you can swap for the portafilter fork. One of the most common questions when it comes to the Mignon grinders is re the specialists vs the silenzio. To put that into meaningful numbers, if you're making around three or four double shots per day they'll last about 50 years! So I thought I'd try to clear that up a bit first, and then tell you what I think of the Mignon from using it.The Eureka Mignon Specialita is a compact, Italian-built all-purpose burr grinder that packs a big punch with its 55mm hardened stainless steel flat burrs. From pulling espresso shots in hipster filled cafés, to roasting beans to perfection or tinkering with espresso machines - we've been there, done that.

I think a lot of people considering the Mignon are grinding for espresso, and I think the obvious choice for espresso among the Mingon models is one of these two. Conceived to prevent the clumps development and eliminate the electrostatic charge of ground coffee, the ACE System is the common denominator in every Eureka on-demand grinder. By the way, while I'm talking about purging coffee beans – do you purge some coffee each time you adjust your grind while dialing in? The resulting finely ground coffee has excellent grind quality – fluffy grounds with consistent grind size and minimal clumping. Speaking of flavour, flat burrs are known for excellent consistency and grind quality, which translates to greater clarity in the cup.The Eureka Mignon Specialita Coffee Grinder features a crisp new touch-screen with 2 Programmable doses, total control of grinding time and also a continuous mode.
