She is such a wonderful author and can minutely detail the fine points in interpersonal relationships that I find myself almost gasping and thinking, I've thought/felt/said that before! At first glance her novels appear to be "chick-lit" but once you start reading them, you realize there is a thoughtful depth to them. Over 22 million copies of her novels have been sold worldwide and her books have been translated into 32 languages.

People tell me I'm not going to win the Booker, and that's true," Keyes has said, "but there are different ways of having one's work validated. In the cut-throat Hollywood setting, such women are one-dimensional; when Maggie tells men at parties that she is in town for some "down time", they quickly walk away. To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average.

Las cuatro de la madrugada es el momento más desapacible del ser humano, cuando tenemos más bajo el ánimo. Now, in the present, she has angst because she thinks this has made her unable to have a baby now that she wants one. También se agradece la presencia de secundarios como Emily, Troy (me habría gustado ver alguna escena de los dos juntos al final, eso sí) y Lara.

Angels is written with sensitivity and spunk, a combination that has really seemed to work for Keyes’ books in which the Walsh sisters appear.

She became known worldwide for Watermelon, Lucy Sullivan is Getting Married, and This Charming Man, with themes including domestic violence and alcoholism. As Maggie enters the world of cutthroat studio execs, high-class nightclubs and beautiful lesbians, she begins reflecting on how her marriage went so wrong. In addition to their formidable capacity for drink and their stoic endurance of hangovers, her heroines all suffer from "mourning sickness". But is this really a once-in-a-lifetime journey of self-discovery, or is she simply running away from married life?

They are on the verge of breaking up as they have barely spoken to each other for months and seem to have some underlying problems that we don’t know about until later on in the book.

Rachel’s Holiday focused on drug-addicted sister Rachel, Watermelon was the story of Claire and how her husband left her the day she gave birth to their first child, and now Angels is a book about the “white sheep” of the Walsh family, Maggie. I couldn’t remember what had happened, but I was able to guess/remember most of the plot before it happened. Unlike many chick-lit type books that portray the heroine’s ex as wholly unlikable, Garv comes across as a sweet, real man who has simply made some mistakes in his life. Like when Maggie sees Laura's bed while visiting her, and starts thinking of lesbian porn movie titles.

You could cut away almost every scene between page 80 and page 400 and you'd still be able to understand the final 80 pages. And the serious part of the story drowned in a slow and not as interesting story about working and partying in LA. What made the books interesting were the characters and the jokes (because while I might be critical of her, Keyes is an excellent humorist).Esta entrega pierde la chispa, no tiene ese humor, quizás ácido de los otros dos y lo peor es que este cae en la banalidad, en su tono más extremo, pasas las páginas y la historia no avanza, cae en un montón de detalles que no aportan y a mi me terminó aburriendo. The main reason I hated it was for the meaning behind it(that i got at least) It implied that for women to succeed and be successful in life they MUST get married. She then travels out to LA to see a friend of hers and stay there for a month to get her head together. Marian Keyes is the international bestselling author of Watermelon, Lucy Sullivan is Getting Married, Rachel's Holiday, Last Chance Saloon, Sushi for Beginners, Angels, The Other Side of the Story, Anybody Out There, This Charming Man, The Brightest Star in the Sky, The Mystery of Mercy Close and The Woman Who Stole My Life. They end up making love, and right afterwards both of them realize that they're not suited for each other, Maggie realizing she's straight after all just like she thought before meeting Laura, and Laura deciding that Maggie was just a rebound thing and not really Laura's type.
