I’ll be talking about my life, my career – the inner Anton – and I shall be doing it all with dance and with song. I didn’t know until about two thirds of the way through the author’s history in dancing and I love how he weaves it into the story through the use of one of the main characters. It sparkles in all the right places, adding a touch of glitz and glamour with the ballroom scenes so that you almost convince yourself these characters could dance the country to victory!

This book was just magical, it transports you to 1940s London in the time of the blitz and how the show must go on at the Buckingham Hotel. Du Beke has discussed his father's problems with alcoholism and revealed that he was stabbed by his father in the leg and stomach during a Boxing Day altercation at their home in Kent. He has appeared on every series since its inception in 2004, and it was announced in 2021 that he would become a permanent judge on the show, replacing Bruno Tonioli. We’re back at the Buckingham, the incredibly swish, luxury hotel in London’s Mayfair which has been the location for all of my novels so far.Royalty from other countries are flocking there for the duration of the war, so the hotel manages to keep busy. He did however go on to win the Children in Need 2014 special where he and fellow dancer Natalie Lowe taught a group of children how to dance. And then there's Nancy, holding the fort at the Buckingham, promoted now and trying to juggle work and what is going on with Raymond. We also catch up with Billy Brogan who gets himself in a bit of a pickle, and Mrs Moffat who makes a decision. uk – plus, dates are now set for a fabulous range of dance breaks next year too – see here for all the listings.

There are some serious threads running through it but there are also moments of pizazz and excitement. From Chamber maid to Concierge, from kitchen staff to the famous dancers who entertain guests in the Grand Ballroom, the stories are as enchanting as Mr du Beke himself. Having said that it has inspired me to catch up with the previous ones in the series so I now have two of them in my ‘to be read’ pile! Strictly Come Dancing's Anton du Beke has signed a new two-book deal with Zaffre to continue his Buckingham series of romantic novels. I’m not sure there are words to describe how overjoyed I am at taking a seat on the Strictly Come Dancing judging panel – such a thrill and a privilege… it really is my dream job!

According to Zaffre, the novel sold over 28,000 copies in hardback, 26,000 in paperback and 10,000 e-books. Du Beke has also appeared in a number of Children in Need and Christmas Specials of Strictly Come Dancing. Secrets, announcements, revelations and celebrations come to the fore in these next chapters of their lives – with the spectre of war growing ever closer. The staff at the luxurious Buckingham hotel must do all that they can to keep their important guests happy, but behind the scenes they are scared. It is like meeting up with old friends again and catching up with what has been going on in the lives.

Unfortunately I was only able to give this book 3 stars because it was edited so badly that I almost couldn't read it.This book and the stories contained herein - I say stories as there are several smaller plots centered around different characters - really do bring the characters more to life than ever. Having said that, I recommend you do at some point – they’re tremendous books, even if I do say so myself! We’ll Meet Again is very British, very patriotic, perhaps a touch romanticised in places and a tad repetitive but overall it’s well written.

The Ballroom Blitz" is the latest in the ongoing saga of the Buckingham Hotel and it's Grand Ballroom.VIRGIN and the VIRGIN signature logo are registered trademarks of Virgin Enterprises Limited and are used under licence. It does follow on and I think the characters will come across much better if you do meet them from the start and grow along with them from what has happened in the previous books. In 2018, he realised his boyhood ambition and published the first in a series of bestselling novels set in the 1930s world of the exclusive Mayfair hotel, The Buckingham. It's September 1940 and war around London is heavy and fierce with continued bombings and air raids. The book was full of surprises and made for a very good read, full of characters to become fond off and full of life both happy and sad.
