Description

Basically, this laptop should be able to run heavy applications like Corel Draw and Adobe Photoshop with ease. Also, with this processor, the laptop should be able to handle heavy multitasking.

Measuring 359 x 249.5 x 19.9 mm (W x D x H) and weighing 1900 g, the Lenovo ThinkBook 15 is far from lightweight. In fact, this laptop weighs more than most of its competitors. Dolby Vision is included, raising the display's abilities beyond a normal screen. This proprietary form of HDR makes compatible content look that much better, usually with deeper contrast and color. It might not be as useful if the laptop is only used for productivity work, but those who want to enjoy a bit of media after hours will appreciate the extra technology.Hence, the laptop performance is better than its competitors such as the ASUS ZenBook 14 and Schenker Vision 15. To give more details, the ZenBook 14 and Schenker Vision 15 scored 11058 and 6971 respectively on the 3DMark 11 test.

Additionally, this processor possesses up to 8 cores as well as a 16 MB cache memory. Moreover, due to the specs of this processor, the Lenovo ThinkBook 15 should be able to handle any computing task thrown at it. In addition to its IPS panel, this display features an anti-glare coating. This anti-glare coating reduces reflection from the display.

A Sea of 13-inch Laptops

In fact, this laptop performed better than most of the laptops in its category. For example, the MSI Prestige 15 which uses the 10th-gen Intel Core i7-1185G7 processor scored 1126 points on the Cinebench R15 test. Interestingly, despite being so thin, Lenovo still manages to fix an HD webcam at the top bezel. This HD webcam is just about the only thing you will find anywhere on the bezels.

To be more specific, you can either acquire the display with FHD (1920 x 1080) or 4K UHD (3840 x 2160) resolution. However, this review is based on the ThinkBook 15’s 15.6-inch display with 4K UHD resolution. For clarity, key travel simply means the distance between a key at rest to full depression. Moreover, due to the keyboard’s short key travel, typing might not be particularly pleasant on the ThinkBook 15. In our 3DMark tests, which predominantly measure GPU performance, the ThinkBook 13s edges past the XPS 13 in Firestrike (4,234 to 4,173) and more or less ties its Time Spy score (1,513 to 1,547). The ThinkBook 13s manages keep up with the XPS 13 in GeekBench 5's multicore benchmark (5,377 to 5,432) and only comes up 20 points short of tying the Book 13 in multicore performance (5,397). Besides, as a laptop with an SSD storage type, this Lenovo laptop should offer fast read and write speed. Speaking of the read and write speed, let us now discuss the laptop’s results on a CrystalDiskMark test.During our daily Zoom meetings, the picture quality was more than adequate for our needs and we didn't hear any complaints about our audio, thanks to the dual-array microphone no doubt. The display's maximum brightness topped out at about 336 nits, which is 36 nits higher than quoted. Still, it would be nice to have extra brightness for those who enjoy working outdoors. The touch version of the display is quoted at 400 nits, but the extra battery draw is certainly a downside. The Lenovo ThinkBook 13s has a lot going for it in the performance department. While the model we tested was only working with a Core i5-1135G7, in several of our benchmarks, it came come to and even beat more powerful mobile processors like the Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Nano's Core i7-1160G7 and Razer Book 13's Core i7-1165G7. Display options differ depending on the CPU platform. The Intel version gets two 13.3-inch options, both with a 2560x1600 (2.5K) resolution, 16:10 aspect ratio, and your choice of touch or non-touch panel. The AMD version gets just one display option with a 1920x1200 resolution and Dolby Vision. The ThinkBook 13s doesn't fare quite so well against its competitors when it comes to battery life though. It is Intel Evo certified, so we weren't surprised at all to see it make it past the nine hour mark in our battery tests, even if it just barely made it in both.

The ThinkBook 14 (Gen 4) is the latest version available from Lenovo, complete with 12th Gen Intel Core U-series or AMD Ryzen 5000 CPUs, DDR4-3200MHz RAM, and either PCIe 3.0 (Intel) or PCIe 4.0 (AMD) SSD storage. For battery, the Lenovo ThinkBook 15 employs a 3 Cell 57Wh Li-Polymer battery. Lenovo claims that this battery can last up to 6.6 hours. Therefore, in this memory review section, I will rate the Lenovo ThinkBook 15 a nine out of ten. Lenovo ThinkBook 15 Storage Option and Performance Review For example, the Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Extreme Gen 3 measures 361.8 x 245.7 x 18.4 mmand weighs 1700 g. Another example is the Schenker Vision 15 which measures 355 x 230 x 15 mm and weighs 1680 g. Our ThinkPad laptops set the standard for business computing. Tough as nails and reliable, these laptops and 2-in-1s keep you productive in any environment. And it gives you the tools you need – from high-end processing and graphics to cutting-edge touchscreen technology, from pen support to epic battery life, ThinkPad keeps you productive and engaged wherever you are.

A more affordable ThinkPad alternative.

Our final productivity test is Puget Systems' PugetBench for Photoshop, which uses the Creative Cloud version 22 of Adobe's famous image editor to rate a PC's performance for content creation and multimedia applications. It's an automated extension that executes a variety of general and GPU-accelerated Photoshop tasks ranging from opening, rotating, resizing, and saving an image to applying masks, gradient fills, and filters. Apart from its 4K UHD or FHD resolution, the Lenovo ThinkBook 15’s display is made with an IPS panel. Therefore, the laptop’s display offers wide viewing angles. Your laptop is your biggest gateway to the online world and beyond (except for your smartphone, of course). And we all have different priorities: We aren't at the point where a 1080p webcam is standard, unfortunately, but the 720p camera on the ThinkBook 13s isn't any worse than what most of us are using for work nowadays.
