David Winter was shot to death Monday in the little town of Old Malton in North Yorkshire, 180 miles north of London.

After Prudom's death, it was revealed that he had previously attended survival courses run by McGee.

His subsequent travels abroad including a camping tour of the United States - would later be used in an effort to explain his final rampage as inspired by "overseas organizations," but the conspiracy theory will mat stand close examination. Born in Leeds in 1944, Prudom was the result of an illicit and short-lived affair between a dressmaker and a soldier.
