There are several book sets that he has enjoyed in the past like the Elementia series and the Dave the Villager books. As usual, I won't post any spoilers, though I will say it was a brilliant read, with twists and turns all through the journey. The wintry, Christmas-time atmosphere, the constant threat of avalanche, and amazing locations like Kungsträdgården Station and the Ice Hotel make this much more than a suspenseful, fast-paced adventure. If you're a fan of middle grade, then you can't go wrong with these books - there's something in there for everyone, and the true sense of adventure is outstanding. I have even talked the head into a little revamp of the library so that we can display them properly! Then again, there’s another, unexpected helper, who turns up on her hunch that something is seriously wrong for Hal and his uncle. This particular train sounds just right because whilst I don't like the cold the idea of a Christmas market somewhere snowy and the Northern Lights as well would sell it to me. In this book the action level is set to high with a killer code and assassins on the loose, desperate to find it.

In Book 6 of the marvellous Adventures on Trains series, Hal and his uncle Nate have another mystery to solve. The illustrations are gorgeous and there is so much action you can just fly through these so quickly. Whilst reading, the book was so quick paced and raring to go, I felt I had to read quick to keep up. A chilly adventure through the snow and ice of one of the world’s most beautiful and desolate landscapes, The Arctic Railway Assassin is Hal’s most gripping adventure yet! Fans of Agatha Christie, or, more recently, Robin Stevens and Katherine Woodfine, should adore this mystery which makes a steam trail all of its own.

A wonderful book in a great series which would excite the imaginations of many a young reader (and plenty of older ones too! However these novels are the first books, other than the Frostheart and The Familiars series, that he has been absolutely obsessed with and looking forward to reading them whenever he has the time.
