Its release as a mass-produced and widely available deck has been awaited with anticipation by those of us not able to afford one of the luxurious limited edition, hand-made copies direct from the artist, Ciro Marchetti. It has taken me two years to find an other Gilded deck but I now have a new deck that is only now feeling like they are part of me. If you’ve already done that, your item hasn’t arrived, or it’s not as described, you can report that to Etsy by opening a case. The vibrancy and choice of the colours is fantastic: the backgrounds of blue skies, sunrises, night skies, twilight, stars and comets in many cards are so luminous they almost appear to glow, as do the strong, saturated blues, greens, purples and reds of the medieval-style costumes. Air may indicate intellectual pursuits, communication, and mental clarity, while earth symbolizes practicality, stability, and material abundance.

Its contemporary relevance lies in its ability to bridge ancient wisdom with modern sensibilities, offering a tool for personal growth, self-reflection, and intuitive guidance in the present day. In the Rider-Waite it is illustrated by a little boat carrying a family moving towards land and safety after navigating choppy water.There are several useful spreads presented at the end of the book, including various versions of the Three Card spread (Past/Present/Future, Body/Mind/Spirit, and Choices); the Celtic Cross spread and a spread by Katie Vyvyan entitled the daily spread, which I found intriguing. They are a bit thinner than a lot of other Tarot decks on the market but not so thin that they can't be used. The deck abounds with medieval magicians, priestesses, emperors, and knights who will help you unleash your divinatory power. The Relationship Spread helps uncover dynamics, strengths, and areas for improvement within relationships, offering valuable insights and guidance for fostering healthier and more fulfilling connections. With the accompanying pocket-sized instruction guidebook, you’ll learn to give accurate and intuitive readings for yourself and others.

The Gilded Tarot Deck has made a significant cultural impact since its creation, resonating with individuals from diverse backgrounds and capturing the imagination of tarot enthusiasts worldwide. NOTE: Since this review was written, I’ve become a lot more familiar with Ciro Marchetti’s work, and if you like this deck, you’ll like his others: The Tarot of Dreams and the Legacy of the Divine Tarot.

The deck has overcome this limitation by having both the beautiful art of a Tarot deck and the Rider Waite Smith standard. It consists of multiple cards, each representing different aspects of the relationship, such as communication, emotional connection, challenges, and potential growth. If I had to cite one negative thing, it is this deck’s incredible power to get people to pay attention to it to the exclusion of all other decks.
