About this deal

I have a large frog that was painted and has been outside for years, The paint has worn off in many places. The beauty of Rub ‘n Buff is that it’s quick and easy to apply, and it doesn’t require any special skills or techniques. Deciding whether or not you want to spray paint or use Rub 'N Buff depends on your project and desired outcome. Rub ‘n Buff — I purchased this set of five different golds that I’ve tested for you in this post (you can also find them sold individually here). Now, this might seem like a lot of money for a tiny tube, but you will be AMAZED at how far this one tube will stretch!

If you don’t have any handy, I love this inexpensive brush set and use it for makeup, but the stiffer large brushes will work for this project. Rub ‘n Buff is a versatile and easy-to-use metallic finish wax that can be used on a variety of surfaces to give them a beautiful shine. The application of Rub ‘n Buff is unlike anything I’ve used before (different than paint, wax, or gel) and requires a certain technique to get the aged look just right. In my case, I’m redoing my guest bedroom and wanted to change out some of the black and bronze colors to a beautiful, antique gold. I have some 30 year old chairs that I need to keep for at least another year before my budget let’s me get my dream sectional (google famaliving). We’ve lived with them for almost a year and I liked them, but I wasn’t completely in love with the brass finish. And best of all, Rub ‘n Buff dries quickly, so you won’t have to wait long to see the finished result. It’s the easiest and quickest way to achieve a realistic antique metal finish, and it’s an enjoyable process too! Whether you’re looking to add some glamour to your furniture or give your jewelry an extra touch of sparkle, Rub ‘n Buff is the perfect way to do it.

I personally have found that depending on the metallic color I choose to use, I have had to apply multiple layers of the wax paste to achieve my desired color. Since it’s a wax-based product, to give it a more durable finish, you can buff your finished item with a soft cloth. I hope this post was helpful if you’ve been wanting an easy and inexpensive way to antique almost anything. I dabbed a small amount of Rub ‘n Buff onto a paper plate, grabbed my makeup brush and used the stiffer end to blend thoroughly. Spray primer — Only required for objects that will be handled, or for better adhesion on slick surfaces.

Rub ‘n buff is a type of metallic paint that can be used to add a ‘touch of gilding’ to just about any surface. The first time I tried using a cotton ball and that didn’t work at all, so take my advice and use a good makeup brush! Or, if I were you, I would spray paint the candlesticks with Rustoleum Heirloom White (aff link) https://bit. In true Stephanie fashion, I went out and bought all 12 colors and have been living happily ever after since!
