About this deal

While most traps and repellents out there are either for pantry or clothes moths, Eon Care traps offer an effective solution for both. Clothes moths and pantry moths can be a real pest when they start eating your woollens and getting into your flour. Since it uses pheromones, you do not have to worry about harsh chemicals or hazards to pets and children.

Place the water and vinegar combination in a spray bottle for use on clothing that can't be put in a washer and dryer. Additionally, their grain-of-sand-sized eggs can easily be sucked up by a vacuum, whereas moth eggs are smaller and covered in an adhesive layer. If you look at the product labels, modern moth balls use pyrethroids such as Transfluthrin, which is none too pleasant either.

Overall, moth balls can be a useful addition to any household looking to protect their clothing and fabrics from unwanted pests. Once you’ve assembled your arsenal of odor-fighting ingredients, you’re ready to combat mothball odors wherever you find them. They like nice dark corners, and if it's behind a piece of furniture or something like that, then move the furniture and expose the whole area. Whichever material you choose, place it in the areas with the heaviest smells, and change it often until the smell is gone.

This sustainable and long-lasting solution reduces chemical and plastic use and protects our precious planet. Moth balls should not be placed loose in areas of the home or outside where pets or children could pick them up. Moth larvae are particularly attracted to dark, warm, humid spaces, as well as dirty clothing (especially unwashed items that may have lingering body oils or food residue). Keeping your outfits clean and pest-free when you’re not using them can feel like a challenge, but we’ve got lots more expert cleaning tips to make caring for your clothes easier.

Toby owns a blog where he publishes articles on growing and growing your flowers at home, in a vase, or in a garden. Alternatively, put the clothes in the washing machine and run a cycle using only vinegar; follow up with another wash cycle using detergent and softener. Fortunately, while the smell tends to linger, it is easy to remove with things like vinegar, baking soda, cedar, and a washing machine.

Once the mothballs have dissolved, machine wash the clothing inside the container with white vinegar to get rid of the mothball smell. Both naphthalene and 1,4-dichlorobenzene undergo sublimation, meaning that they transition from a solid state directly into a gas; this gas is toxic to moths and moth larvae. When it’s time to wear your clothes, air them outside for a day or more first to eliminate any traces of gas or odour, then wash as normal with detergent and fabric softener. Moths and carpet beetles lay their eggs in warm, quiet corners of our homes, where there’s plenty of food for the larvae when they hatch. Clothes moths will choose anywhere in your house that is dark, warm, undisturbed and has a food source.

We have a blog dedicated to a moth elimination programme using these along with our Chrysanthemum Spray. While the techniques to remove the stench from the fabric all take time to complete, it is possible to mask the odor temporarily so you can wear your clothes now and clean them later. Vacuum if necessary and mix equal parts water and vinegar to wipe down all surfaces, including wood.
